Long Tanto

I call this the Mountain Panther Tanto to seperate this 12" long blade version from the shorter 8" long Panther Tanto I make. I created it to follow the more traditional look of the original Tanto's though it is only influenced by the traditional and to it I add my own style. The blade is made from 1/4 inch thick 1095 carbon steel and differentially heat treated using the clay method to produce a nice hamon temper line and file worked along the spine. It has a full tang handle with Monkey Pod wood scales from the Big Island of Hawaii. The scales is overlayed with Python Snake skin and overwrapped with black nylon cord, the the cord is epoxy set for greater wear. A brown tooled leather sheath comes with the blade.


Specs:
1/4 inch thick 1095 high carbon steel differentially heat treated with clay.

Handle is Monkey Pod wood scales on full tang with Python Snake Skin overwraped with black cord.

Blade Length is almost 12 inches

Overall Length about 17.5 inches

Guard is made from brass

Brown tooled leather sheath (shown)
