Long term bugout.., yet again

Stryver,

I agree with you!

I fully recognize that, whatever the disaster or reason, the "survivors" would never return to "caveman days". You could collect street signs for shelter, or whatever you'd use a 3 or 4 square foot of heavy aluminum for. You could make a crossbow from a car's leaf spring. You'd have quite a bit of access to existing "remnants".

Mine is more an exercise in "what if". What if I wanted to go as deep into the woods as possible, and wait however long it would take to let things settle down, after whatever upheaval might occur. But, admittedly.., eventually, you'd probably link with others, for mutual benefits.

Toilet paper.., it's true, I *do* love our nice, soft, modern 2 ply t-paper.., but, as Ron has pointed out, you can make do with a rag.

Socks.. sure, I've set aside some modern, hi-tech socks as evaluated by Backpacker magazine, as well as some more common Thor-los, and Wigwam.

And gloves.. I've got wool, fleece and kevlar.., plus wool and fleece jackets, pants, vests, hats.

But 2000 lbs

, I think that's stretching it a bit. My vehicle isn't even rated for that kind of load! Plus.. I have to fit my three dogs in, plus some dog food! (for the short term)

I dunno.., I just find myself drawn to "primitive" survival.. however much I may appreciate some of our modern conveniences.
