I had a knife in my pocket before I was 10. I bought my first custom in 1987. I buy new, old, anything that catches my eye. Most of my collection is older traditional patterns.

Hey BF,

How many of you have/use knives from 10+ years ago? ... Looking at your knives now, in 2030 and beyond will your current collect just be out-dated and worthless?

I quite often carry knives that are 10+ years old. I'd never really call my stash of knives a collection. Collections are things you put together to preserve a bit of history and/or teach people about form and function. My knives were all bought because I though I'd use them for something not save them for posterity (with few exceptions). Some don't get used as much as others.

Beyond 2030 I'm sure USMC Kabars will still be in style, likewise Case trappers and Buck 119s. I'm sure Spyderco won't be going anywhere and with so much history and branding poured into their spidey-hole, they won't be giving that design up anytime soon. A lot of the newer stuff doesn't interest me, so I'm not adding a lot to the rotation. I imagine in 2030 a lot of 30+ year old men will have 10 year old kids finding overbuilt folding pocket prybars in dad's junk drawer; at least they were made with CPMVM390Techfimax steel!
