I have always heard that automatics should be stored in the open position so the coils do not get weak. Right now I am collecting a liner lock series and wanted to know if keeping them stored in the closed position in a pouch could weaken the liners ? Should these be stored in the open position as well or does it not matter with liner locks.

There's so little stress on that spring you could store it closed for a thousand years and not weaken it. Even though it's some stainless or titanium alloy that isn't really spring steel it's so far from the yield point it's ridiculous.
