Long Term Storage For Speed Safe Knives

I have established quite a collection of speed safe knives over the past few months and was looking for some insight as to the best way to store them long term. In other words, should I store them in the open or closed position to avoid premature wear to the torsion bars?

I've been told that it is probably better to store them open, but I have always stored them closed and never had a problem with them, even on knives over 4 years old.

I've always read that being stored under load will not weaken the spring, it's the number of times it is flexed that makes the difference.

Like when you want to break a piece of wire, if you keep it bent at ninety degrees and it'll rust out before it breaks, but rapidly bend it back and forth and it snaps quickly.
