Long time EDC's

For me, it's been a SAK Tinker for longer than I can remember. Before that a #22Queen barlow.

I’ve carried a Victorinox Compact regularly for more than 20 years. I would post a picture, but the one I’m carrying now looks new—because it is. Anytime I come across someone without a pocket knife I give them one, replace it with my spare, and buy a new spare.

I've had a Vic classic on my key chain as long as I can remember I'm on my third. Broke the cover on one and lost my keys once. They are one handy little knife.

Great little knife. Carried for years, but not on my keychain. Had to go to courthouses all the time, and most did not allow knives, even tiny ones. So had to leave in the car all the time. Mostly used toothpick, scissors, and tweezers. Knife blade is really small. Got one in the car now, but carry something bigger in my pocket.

I only really started to carry a slipjoint in my pocket shortly after joining this forum about 3 years or so ago, and I haven't carried the same knife every single day but I have carried it quite a bit in those 3 years.

It was gifted to me by forum member R8shell and is in my opinion an excellent knife, thinly ground razor sharp blades that touch up in no time and it has a decent walk and talk.

Somewhere in the early to mid 80’s I picked up a 34OT at a local surplus store. I lost it in the Marines, im guessing 1989 or 90. I then replaced it with this Small Tinker and promptly used a piece of 550 chord to fasten it to my belt loop. I have carried that exact knife almost exclusively since then. In the late 90’s Grandad gave me this 34OT. It split the pocket time with the Tinker for many more years. I still carry them both but not everyday like I used to.

My Classic has come off my keychain, but only because I now carry them in my back pocket. I’ll dump my keys when I get to work or get home and got tired of going to grab my keys just to get a hold of my tiny pocket knife. Classics are my most carried by far, but unfortunately not the same one. I’ve lost a few, gifted a couple to TSA etc. Always end up getting another though.

If I had to point to one knife that I've carried more than any other knife, it will be a SAK. Since 1969 I seem to have had one SAK or another on me. Sometimes a tinker, sometimes my old Wenger SI, other times a recruit. I'll dabble with another knife, but sooner or later the SAK of some kind will be back in my pocket. Just too handy not to have and so replaceable at the big box store when traveling. I've gifted off SAK's while traveling on vacations, given to someone in need of a pocket knife. The SAK has outlasted my stockmen, sodbusters, peanut, and other knives of the moment.

And like a lot of the posters here, a little classic is alway on my key ring in a leather sheath, and does get used a surprising amount of times.

Just used the bottom of a mug and got mine screaming sharp. (Thanks for that tip Jackknife) Another bonus of the SAK is the easy to sharpen steel and rust resistance. My Classics have gone through the washer and dryer countless times without issue, they're just.....cleaner :). Here is my current crop of Classics. The Alox are ones I just got as a bundle on Ebay and the sushi knife I've carried just over a year. Gift from my mother-in-law. Some of these will get gifted or lost I'm sure. I'll stash one in the car, maybe one on the work bench. The others wait patiently for their turn.

You're very welcome!

One these days I'm going to find the post where I described how my better half, Karen, turned me onto the classic. A SAK that I once thought of as a joke. The joke was on me.

I bought this Buck 110 in the fall of 1975. For at least the next 20 years it was on my belt every day. Then there was a period of several years, when I carried a more modern assisted opener and or flipper. The Buck is back where it belongs now, except I will occasionally carry a 112 instead.
Some time between 1977 and 1980 I started carrying a Victorinox Champion. One day around 1990, it decided to go swimming in Puget Sound. I replaced it with a Swiss Champ. I carried that knife every day until about 5 years ago when I broke the saw blade. I didn't want to be without one , for the length of time it would take to send it in for repair, so I bought the one in the picture.

For a long time if I needed to cut something I used the Buck, if I needed a tool I use the SAK. Recently I have added these other two knives to the mix, so now if I need to cut something, I have to decide which knife gets to play.:D

that’s a nice little fixed blade, can you tell me any more about it?

I generlly carry two knives. One a 'proper traditional', and one the SAK Waiter that's lived on my keys for nigh on 19 years now.
As it sometimes get used in work I like the fact I can sterilize it without worrying about killing the covers, which I'd probably do with my other trad's.

I own many traditional knives but the ones I've used the most over the past 15 years or more are my A.Wright's large lambsfoot:

or my A.Wright's Barlow.

It was given to me by a friend. It was made by John of JK knives. My understanding was it was originally a 1 off design, but my friend had a second one made with an Osage Orange handle before he gave me this one. I believe it was called the mighty mouse. The blade length is 2 1/2 inches, overall length is 5 3/4 inches. Blade steel is O1, handle material is micarta. I made the sheath. It's a tough little knife.
