Hi eveyone; I have been a long time lurker.

I have always had a fascination for knives, buying one from time to time. However in the past six months I have multiplied purchases, blame it on Massdrop! (you can check me out there, and see my drops, they are public. I am 'Bobraz' on Massdrop.

Here's my collection after six months of craziness  (you see I have a weak spot for steel and carbon fiber!):

  1. Incoming: Spyderco Double-Bevel Knife by Bob Terzuola
  2. Incoming: Spyderco Cricket Blue Nishijin
  3. 2 X Spyderco C28GRE2 Dragonfly 2 with ZDP-189 blade (one is for trade; brand new and unused)
  4. Spyderco LBORP3E Ladybug HAP40/SUS410 Laminate Sprint Run
  5. Spyderco C113CFPE Caly 3 Carbon Fiber ZDP-189 Steel
  6. Spyderco C123CFP Sage Carbon Fiber, 3.2 inch blade, CPM-S30V blade
  7. Spyderco C152CFP Chaparral Carbon Fiber, 2.8 inch blade
  8. Spyderco C129GP Cat G-10
  9. Spyderco C153GP Des Horn
  10. Spyderco C10PTAW Endura Emerson Opener Tactical Armorer Tool
  11. Spyderco C64JPBK Meerkat
  12. Spyderco C134CFP Original Gayle Bradley M4 Steel Carbon Fiber
  13. Boker Plus Panatela Titanium
  14. (2x) Maserin Carbon 392 (one is for trade; brand new and unused)
  15. Kershaw Emerson CQC-6K
  16. Boker Plus Decade Edition Exskelibur II Folding Knife, VG10 Satin Blade, Carbon Fiber Handles, limited edition of 600 pieces - model 01BO340
  17. Cold Steel Hold Out III
  18. Hikari HK07-DCF Higonokami Damascus Carbon Fiber
  19. Kershaw Squaw Creek Carbon Fiber, model 2150CF
  20. Kershaw Indian Ford Carbon Fiber, model 2155CF

Most of these are in my collection cabinet and sit unused (I play with them at home, very carefully); I EDC a Kershaw Indian Ford, because around me most people freak out when they see anything else besides a Wenger or Victorinox!

I plan to post some pics later!

Another long time lurker here. How do you like that Spyderco Dragonfly 2? I've always found it quite interesting even though I've never owned one myself.

Get out now while you can. Collecting Ferraris is cheaper in the long run.

I thought about selling my knife collection and getting a Ferraris. Problem is I use my knives, and they go down in value. Guess I'll have to settle for a Porsche.

Welcome, I was a lurker for years. decided to setup a profile a few years back. Nice collection you started. What do you mean they freak out? You mean at the obvious criminal holding the scary weapon? like that? That's a shame!!

It's very nice and light, and it's sharp as hell. I did not test it extensively, as I tend to just collect the knives. And when I finally EDC one, honestly I don't have that many occasions to use them. They stay in my pouch and help cut some tape from time to time (it's kinda sad in reality :(). Here in Montreal (Canada), people are easily frightened by even the smallest knife (except Victorinox and Wenger stuff; that's fairly popular).

But it's a great EDC size, light, and has a very non-threatening form factor. I read that it keeps it's sharpness for a long time, and it certainly looks that way! I bought two by mistake (ok, I forgot I had it, when I bought the second) so I would happily trade it now :)

Thanks for the kind words Sir. Well you know, in Canada we're lucky to have little social friction and society is generally very peaceful. We have a few gun toting lunatics from time to time, but thank god they are few and far between. Traditionally, almost no-one carry guns (very, very difficult to carry in Canada, mostly law enforcement and detectives, etc.).

By the same token, very few people carry knives, except to go fishing or hunting. So people are just not used to see them outside of the outdoors situations (hunting, fishing, camping, etc.). As a result everybody finds it odd, in a nervous way, if you take out any knife with a larger than a 3" blade. Anything resembling tactical knives makes people very, very uncomfortable. Although with the EDC movement, I see more and more gentleman's knives out there, usually under 3" blades, and oftentimes non-locking. But it's still just a marginal movement.

I showed my Maserin to my dad and he was "whoa whoa son, this is a lethal weapon". So now I only carry small gentleman's knives, e.g. the Kershaw Indian Ford.

This is just the way Canada is, and to be absolutely honest, I have no problem with it. I am OK with no guns in circulation, and I'm OK with smaller knives being acceptable. I just buy mine (knives) and admire them at home...

Just carry two, one of the bigger "tactical" ones and the small one. And only use the small one when people are around
