I started this knife about two years ago. I do a little and set it aside for a while. It is done except for the scabbard, which will take a while ,too. The scabbard will make the knife look more balanced ( It looks a little blade-short right now.) Scabbard is in Argentum and gold.
Specs:
Handle 4", Blade 3.5"
Handle - Narwhal with 14K yellow twisted wire.
Pommel - 14K red, green, and white gold....set with 1.60 carats.
Quillion - 14K red,green,yellow and white gold...set with 5.84 carats.
Total diamond weight - 7.44 carats.
Blade - sculpted stainless damascus with 14K yellow gold inlay.
Sole maker - Stacy E. Apelt

That is a work of art. I can see why it is taking a while to finish. Keep the pics coming once you get the scabbard done.

Jeez, Stacy, that is something else! I'm impressed. No wonder it took you two years, working on that grade of materials would scare the crap out of me.
Gavin
P.S. Narwhal! That is so cool! Like natural fluting.

Always the fun question when looking at Stacy's work: how big is it?

Great job! It really looks amazing!

OK, I'll take it and I need 5 more just like it. Don't worry, I don't need them till Friday.:D

Seriously, that is a very impressive piece of work there!

Wow Stacy! That's even better than I imagined it would be! What are the dimensions if I may ask? -Matt-

So, when are you going to send that thing to Noss and see if it can decrown the Fusion Battle Misstress? :D :D

Just kidding. It is a serious piece of art. Congratulations!
Mikel

I stand in awe of both the effort and craftsmanship as well as the patience level evident in such a work of art. If I ever even approach half of that, I will have fulfilled my highest ambition as a knifemaker!

Gorgeous !! You're going to teach them how to make one at Ashokon ??

Very nice Stacy! And actually with the way you carved the blade it looks both very elegant and very brutal! Great job! The perfect knife for a queen to dethrone her king.

Whoa... Stacy that is unbelievable! I've always wanted to learn to solder fine metals and set stones, but I never had a vision like that! Can't wait to see it with the scabbard, so keep us posted. All that long-term investment sure paid off.

Sorry guys, I thought I put the dimensions in the specs ( I added them). It is 4" handle and 3.5" blade. With the scabbard on the blade and handle will appear the same.

I was going to make the scabbard out of 14K green gold, but it would have cost $1000 just for the sheet stock. I went with 16 gauge Argentum that will have raised gold escutcheons and embellishments. I may engrave on it some, too.

Thanks for the kind comments.
Stacy

Bruce, I still have that cut-and-shoot project about 1/3 done. It is my next long term project. Won't be as nice as your stuff, but will be a lot of fun.

Cool! Cant wait.

Yes, Argentum is a silver alloy that resists tarnishing, gets harder, and has some other workability attributes.
