Has anyone made a look a like tracker, like to see some pics. I will attempt to make one slightly different than original. Problem is making the short blade next to the guard. Any suggestions welcome. Rey

That style of knife is a "wilderness survival knife" or WSK. A quick google image search of WSK knife will give to tons of variations

This is my Saw-less W.S.K. Hand Forged and ground from 5160 Leaf Spring (Old Chevy Spring) it has a reverse distal taper from 3/16" at the butt to 5/16 at just before the tip. Handles are local old growth curly silver maple, from a neighbors tree that was planted at about the beginning of the civil war. 3 Brass Pins.

Thanx Sam I learned alot making it... as in the importance of good blade geometry. and these knives just dont have it.

yeah hehe, I thought the same thing, then I got to handle one and everything was confirmed. They are like more of an axe than an axe.

This is not something like Tracker but perhaps some idea may help.

Thai Enep

It is a combination of Edge Geomatry.
It has postal taper all the way to the tip.
The edge angle near the choil is perhaps 40 degrees and the edge near the tip is as thin as 20 - 25 degrees.

Thai people during the old time use this kind of knife for EDC.
The thick edge near by the choil is for cutting bigger wood and the thin edge is for detail work where by you can hold the thicker part near the choil area for better control.

These basic function allow Thais to use this Enep for cooking and also maintaining houses that made of unduability material during the old time.

The reason why I brought this one out in the Tracker Style Knife Quote is because the principle of the knife is a combination of Blade Thickness and angle. It may help giving some idea.

I wonder what the production made trackers look like and compare to geometry wise to the original design and early one made by whoever made the original?

That's a nice tracker Jason, good work and what's nice is that it comes from a leaf spring along with the handle from an old tree unique and priceless.

Nice knife Dick, it sure brought back memories from vietnam during my time spent there. I knew some Thai soldiers in spec.ops who carried this knife. Rey
