Anyone know what's going on with these knives? I'd really be interested in buying one. I just can't read his web site and was wondering if anyone else had any info.

Steve

Count me in too. Let me know who/when/where to send the money to

I've been exchanging emails with both you and Guillaume for some time now, and had a hard time convincing you guys to join in the fray here... LOL!! Glad to see that you're finally in!

Happy New Year!

Dan

I'm currently finishing the tooling to make some stainless steel handles. I
think next week I'll have something. I can mail you privatelly, if you
prefer.
Thanks for the interest.

I hope I can post more good news soon!
Happy new year to you (and to all forumites) too.

BTTT

Just want to make sure everybody has seen this. I know I'm going to order one soon and these seem like some really great bali's.

Steve

Im definately planning on having Mauricio make me one, but Im just curious how they'll get into the states, past customs.

For the price Im going to pay, (damascus/titanium) even an 85% chance of customs seizing them is risky.

Just have him make it with removable pivots. Customs doesn't care about parts remember.

I was assuming the balisongs Maurico's making were pressure-fitted, since this is a good way to secure the pins. But I guess this would be silly to assume because of machinery costs to do this.

So, if the pins were detachable, wouldn't this effect the balisong's performance/quality? Well, with my jaguar at least, even with the pins replaced with nails, it's still a POS when flipping (performance wise)

I should have thought of this earlier. If you are interested in reading his site, just go to http://babelfish.altavista.digital.com/translate.dyn and enter the address listed for his site, then continue on as you would. It does a fair job of translating and lets you get the information you would want. A friend of mine showed me that a long time ago when she was doing a bit of work in French, and it comes in quite handy.

What if, instead of a threaded cup like benchmade has, one of the handles had a threaded hole in it? Put a drop of lock tight on the removable pin and tighten it down through one handle and the blade and into the opposite handle. It would also allow you to have one perfectly finished side to display.

Chris,
mine is holding fine. Sure I'm not a heavy flipper, like Clay, Chuck or others forumites, but based in my experience with Jaguars, I'm not perceiving any changes in the action all these weeks.
I'll ask Mauricio about his methods at doing the pins (I know they are 1/8 ss).
G.

Nail pins work ok but they are nothing like a folder pivot or larger better fitting pins as the larger diameter seems to make the whole knife more solid. I repinned a jag with 1/8 folder pivots and it took almost all the slop out of the handles. I'd rather have something that I can disassemble when worn repair and reassemble.

loki,
just for information sake, Mauricio told me his pins are 4mm stainless steel (just between 5/32" and 3/16").
They're secured for two allen screws, (one is thightly pressed and the other can be worked to adjust the action).
G.

Geraldo, I'd like to get in touch with him but I don't speak Portuguese do you think it will be a problem?

No problem Loki, he understand well enough English, it can take a while to write a reply, but he will do it happylly. sp?
