My friend took me to Ross cutlery at downtown LA yesterday for the first time and when we walked in, there she was, in all her glory:

when I took it home I saw this weird copper-burned-flamed looking stuff on the jimpings on both the top and bottom of the blade and at the tip of the choil on pics three and four right behind the edge. It doesn't come off and I don't know what it is. Should I be worried? Could that be a sign that something is wrong with the blade? could that mean the HRC could have been affected? Will it affect the function of the knife?

The inside of the spyderhole has the same stuff too!
It even has that metal splash mark and the lines of the laser cutting. could that be from just not finished up after cutting? cause my other spyderco doesn't have those marks inside the hole or that copper-burned-flamed looking stuff.

P.S. when I took it home I saw this weird copper, burned flamed looking stuff on the jimpings on both the top and bottom of the blade and at the tip of the choil on pics three and four right behind the edge. Could this be a temper issue? or burned?
No need to worry, both the discolorations and the "splash" inside the Spyderhole are pretty much par for the course on laser cut Spyderco knives.

I hope it was under-priced for you too! I found mine at Flying Tigers Surplus, NIB and flawless, for $140 just 6 months ago or so :D

I've had mine for about 1 1/2 years and finally had to touch the edge up. I don't do a lot of heavy cutting, but have been surprised at how well the blade steel/edge has held up. Really great design - got the s90 and the d2 versions and have a hard time deciding which one to carry - between the militaries, paras, enduras, calyIII, sage, etc.....
