Dasein in Nepal is a bit like Christmas here in that it is an appropriate time to give gifts but look at this! We gave the kamis a few lousy dollars for Dasein and this is what they gave to me for my Dasein gift. It came today along with a shipment of khukuris as a complete surprise to me.
This plaque is 14 inches high and 12 inches wide and for kamis and sarkis doing the work of a sikarmi (carpenter or cabinet maker) they have done a great job. The gift shows thoughtfulness, kindness and an effort from shop personnel to stay "even" as best they can. My hat's off to the kamis and sarkis once again and I have already sent my most sincere thanks to them.
On the crass side, the kamis said if any customer wanted a near identical plaque they would make them one when they could find the time. Cost will be $150 for those HIKV sufferers who simply must have one.
When I say most cannot read or write you will probably believe me now if you look at the way they spelled "Himalayan". God bless them. They do the best they can.
