Didn't take too long.
I am looking forward to the Northfield versions. Hopefully they will put that random jigged Copperhead bone on one.

Beat me to it...
I am glad to see this pattern in production outside the BF run. When I can get the money together later on down the road, I can go ahead and pick one up instead of beating myself up over missing out on it when the BF knives sell out. It seems like the pattern I have been waiting for.

the northfield version will have saber ground blades (both blades). Should be quite interesting indeed.

Man, I just got a #73 Scout in today and now I see this! If they release this one with an Acorn shield I am done for :D
GEC is killing my knife budget...

This is why I love it when we get GEC to produce the annual forum knives. They always make production runs of the pattern. Helps out those who didn't jump on the forum knife bandwagon, and/or those of us who are waiting for a version of the knife with ebony or cocobolo covers, or a version without swedges, etc.

This pattern looks like the one to rule them all.

Starting this year, maybe?

Unless I missed the 85s with a caplifter.

I would offer that the pattern was still the same, even if the blade (or implement) configuration changed.
Hence the same number designation, #85.

So excited it made regular production.
For some reason I think it would look great in ebony.

Ah, okay. So the Bladeforums' 85 was the first-ever 85? I didn't realize that.

Yep. They tooled up for our knife, then used the tooling for other versions. Pretty cool, I think.

Yes, it is pretty cool indeed to see GEC turn "our" project into a production model.
I'm not sure about the sabre blades, and I really look forward to hear any opinions and comparisons, once the Northfield versions come out.
As for the long pull on the clip blade, I guess it will be there :)

Will the Northfield have a long pull on the clip blade by any chance?

Nope. Saber grind with a crescent nail nick:

And a saber ground Wharncliffe, too:

Fortunately, they stayed with a crescent pull on the latter. The Northfield Halfwitt (#57) Wharncliffes have a long pull, which IMO, looks ridiculous.

Thanks for the correction Rick. I hadn't seen the pictures on GEC's website, I was just guessing on the long pull. And I share your thought about the pull on the main blade of the new #57.

I'd like to say that is what kept me from succumbing to the temptation of the Hemlock Green Bone 57, but the truth is I have no knife money. Oh, and like you fellows, I prefer the nail knick to the long pull on that wharncliffe blade.

Nice. I would like to see long pull versions. I like long pulls on warncliff blades too.

I think Ebony should be offered with long pulls, in the Northfield line.....

I'd love to see it single bladed, much more usable without the wharncliff getting in the way.
Love the forum knife though.
