  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Look out! It (Native 5 Carbon Fiber S110V) has arrived!

Why would you want to sell it?Use it and enjoy it.Return it to the dealer if you don't like it and request a refund.Heck I bought 2 just in case I loose the one I carry. When they are gone then there gone from dealers.Good luck chasing one down a few years down the road.Cough up the dough or forever hold your peace...Try the standard production model if this one is too rich for your blood. If you have doubts then pass and move on..Some folks nowadays don't know what a real beating is......

Because I choose to sell it.

Some folks nowadays think they know everyone elses situation and make a lot of assumptions........

Yeah, not to mention some of us find a lot of joy in the actual buying & selling itself...one of those 'enjoy the journey more than the destination' type of things. Well maybe not more than the destination - but as much. ;)

I hope that Spyderco runs 1200 of every Golden produced sprint and dealers double or triple up on their comissioned exclusive runs for the popular models. Speculators, collectors who collect every variation, and those who just want a unique user should all have a chance to acquire one at a reasonable price with the correct timing.Rarity and speculative value seem to be tied to popularity and total production numbers in my opinion. My opinion is that the speculator variety that seems to be more concerned with the production numbers and whether or not a particular model will gain or loose value over time.I can understand that is is quite possible that you may or may nor want to sell your knife at some point, but I would never count on making a profit on a knife especially one that has been used.Speculating and collecting is fun, but I tend to think taking a beating is part of the risk unless you have a crystal ball.I hope everyone who wants this model has grabbed one and you all enjoy your S110v CF N5's for many years.
Best,
salmonkiller

And for some of us, we have a long wishlist, and we want to know how many of a particular knife will be produced so that we can strategize when to buy it. If it is a run of 500 or 800, I probably need to get one on the first wave, if funds are available and nothing else is more pressing or rare. If it is 1200 or 1500, then I can probably prioritize something else in the near term and hit the second or third wave of the knife. Knowing how many of a knife will be produced isn't always about anticipating profit on the secondary market.

Take the new navy blue Kershaw Blur with silver twill and S30V blade. That's killer. But it is $125 for a Blur. Knowing how many will be produced would help me to prioritize it on the wishlist...and decide if $125 is worth it.

Yes sir I agree. There are many variables and we all have our own challenges and or desires.Sometimes it's like trying to catch lightning in a bottle and other times you sit back and watch the light show. Knowing when to strike the iron when it's hot is sometimes challenging for me and I have realized that I can't win every time. I am grateful for the acquisitions that have landed over the years.I have noticed that dealers and manufacturers have in my eyes started to raise the initial prices of LE offerings to reflect closer to the secondary market going rate for highly desired and LE models. There may be reasons for the pricing beyond my understanding or knowledge so I try to be smart about my purchases.I usually don't sell my knives, but have sold some for a loss or at my cost to my friends .You win some and you loose some...Dealer early pre-orders seem to be less prominent than before. Initial prices seem to be higher out the gate. Production numbers are sometimes omitted or not released and the choice to purchase may become complicated and striking the iron when it's hot is harder.I will just pass and move on if I have doubts in my mind whether the knife is worth the going rate and has value to me as a user or collector. I will purchase two if I really like the model if possible. One for EDC and the second one will be my backup/collector.I use and enjoy my knives and find it interesting and fun..The good thing about Spyderco is that there seems to be many chances each year to get a sprint or exclusive. The Cruwear Manix 2 is an excellent example this year.

More back in stock at the store that sells Spyderco.

Certainly sounds like a high number produced for this Sprint Run. Glad so many are getting a chance to own a great folder at a reasonable price.

I got mine in the mail today. Very nice little knife. Perfect fit and finish. Now I can't wait to compare it to the Yojimbo 2 that's on its way. Now that credit card bill that will be following shortly after that....not so much.

Got both the carbon fiber sprint run and the fluted titanium Native 5s. Sharpened them over the weekend, but haven't had a chance to play with them as we are in the process of moving into a house (girls make you do that). She was gone for a bit, so I took the opportunity to play. I have to tell you, these are seriously nice knives.

RamZar, I also sharpened up that Chap4 Stepped Ti. OMG, is it nice!

I like the fluted titanium handle better than the CF one for looks but the peel-ply CF better for traction. The S110V is tough to top even though S35VN is no slouch!

What a great slicer the Chaparral series is!

I was lucky enough to get 2 of these from two different vendors. One I had on pre-order, and the other one I purchased when they were in stock.

What actual blade length is this model supposed to have? My blade looks to measure 2.937". The ad stated 3.06".

Blade length = 2.875"

Cutting edge = 2.563"

(per Spyderco website)

EDIT: These are Delica specs...

Back in stock at KW for a good price. For those still looking.

I have no luck. I requested that they ship my pre-ordered Yojimbo 2 with the Native 5 when they have both available. Somehow they never contacted me when new Natives arrived. Too bad. Could have saved me 60$.
