One of the forum members from Australia and I traded some wood. He got some redwood, maple and buckeye burl.
My packaged arrived today and here is what was in it. I think it works good for both of us. We both get cool stuff we hardly ever see otherwise.

As usual, I took bad pictures of good wood. One of these days I'll get things figured out. The figure in the blocks is as good as the scales but somehow I almost made it disappear.

The wood is Ringed Gidgee, a desert Acacia. At least as hard as Ironwood (1.1 to 1.4) and killer figure. I got this wood on special request of one of the forum members so I don't know yet if I will be able to offer any for sale. He get's first dibs. I won't tell you his name because you guys already pick on him enough as it is.

One thing for sure. I will definitely be getting more of this stuff.

Ok which one of you guys let the secret out ;) I just handed this one over to its new owner on the weekend handled in gidgee. Tough to get a good photo of though.

Great looking knife Alistair.
It was a different forum member I traded with though. He is welcome to post whether or not he was happy with his end of the trade. I hope so because I want more of this wood. It is like ironwood, but ..........better!

I got some (from unrelated blokes), they have a lot of very good woods over there, jarah, and tiger stripe gum, and so many I can't remember.

Yes Mark i was happy with the trade. Thanks for the Red wood burl and the stabolised buckeye especially.I will send some more over so you can spread the love around, can't wait to get some of that exerbition buckeye you were talking about. It will be good to see what you guys can make with the Gidgee. Thanks again Mark :)
