Look what I did to my H.E.S.T.

After reading about the H.E.S.T. I knew I needed one. Yes, not just want, but need.

I was very pleasantly surprised when it arrived. Perfect size for EDC. I quickly loaded sfuff into the handle. After holding it for a few minutes, well, maybe a minute, I knew that in my travels, I'd never need the pry bar portion. Since I was going to make it my EDC, I knew it would be only a matter of moments the tip would eat a hole in any shirt I was wearing over the knife. So, below is what I did:

This makes it much more comfortable, but, still gives the back of my hand something to rest against. I also modified the sheath so it would sit against my body snuggly and would be an easy one hand on and off. Only required drilling one hole. Here is the result:

Now it is so comfortable that I don't even remember that it is there. I panic sometimes and reach for it thinking I lost it.

This knife comes out of the sheath so beautifully and goes back in with such ease. The fit and finish of RAT knives is superior to some custom makers. I was stunned to see the polished edges of the KYDEX sheath.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon RAT and look forward to many years of faithful service and a nice collection.

Thanks for looking,
Tom

I rather like the prybar myself. We never THINK we will need to pry something, but that doesn't mean that it will be true :o

Got a little atwood prybaby in my pocket for that. You shouldn't have to use a knife for it ;)

Your knife, your call ! ;-)
It's good to trim and customize knives which turns to be constant companions.
Now it can used as a small hammer for tiny nails.
I love the prybar and it has never worn any of my clothes like a clip and G10 handles on a classic TK folder could.
I like your macro pictures too.

cheers

I like it as well. I do think there will come a time when you think, dang, that pry bar thinking would come in handy. But I also think, that those times will be very few and far between, and all the rest of the time you would be thinking dang, that thing poked me again, or wore a hole in my shirt, or scratched my car, etc etc etc.

I am sure you will love having the knife the way you want it.
