Look what I did to my H.E.S.T.

Not a modification I will be considering for my H.E.S.T. Ive never had a problem with the pry digging in or damaging anything, (and Ive probably carried it for over 100 miles in total whilst hiking)
But if you feel more comfortable, then its a good change for yours.

Not exactly something I would have done to my HEST, I actually have had to use my prybar a couple of times to make enough room to get the CountyComms EOD bar under a door I was trying to open.

But as far as mods go, you did a nice job with it. Looks great, but you do need to figure some way to protect the steel. :)

Thanks for the suggestions on what to do with the now exposed steel. I have some Cold Blue I'll apply in a little while. Then, of course, I'll post the obligitory photo as evidence.

I also like the new names for the knife. F.E.S.T. is good, How about B.E.S.T. for Beercap Extraction Survival Tool

The RC-3 will be my next one. The IZULA is on the way. I want to practice Paracord wrapping. I'm just waiting for the right RC-3 to surface, then it will be mine.

Thanks again for the comments and advice.

I've been trying to see the mods in this thread for two days but apparently I just don't have enough patience :)

I take it you removed the pry bar. Did you remove it completely and round it over or just partially?

Personally I love the pry bar on mine doesn't get in my way in any grips including the chest lever, isn't sharp enough to hurt my hand, and I see it being great for my intended carry method when the extension pack gets here next week. Also I've found that it works really well for opening the little blister packs my sinus medicine comes in without having to worry about peeling and popping...I just poke the pry bar through the paper and slide it sideways and pop the pill out...no muss no fuss. It's sharp enough to tear the paper without just slicing through the whole thing like my folder did...and nearly gave me another injury. I discovered this because of an injured thumb lol, there are just some things you can do with thumb and forefinger that you just can't do with forefinger and index finger.

If anyone wants to offer these as a custom mod, I'll buy one. Great design, like an RC-3 without the choil.

I'll do it for you. All you would have to do is ship me the knife. I'm a part-time maker and it would take me all of about 5 minutes to do it and finish it off with the blueing.
If interested, you can email me.

Why not just get an RC-3? Was the bottle opener just too enticing to resist?

:D Seems like something I'd do though, I'm never satisfied with knives.
