I was walking through the park today and caught something shiney out of the corner of my eye in the grass. When I bent down to look, I was suprised to find this little Schrade laying in the grass next to a mud puddle. One side of the broken main blade says Schrade Walden N.Y. U.S.A. Stainless, and the other sider says 825. Well, I cleaned the dirt and muck off it and here it is! Let me know what you think!

Nice! That's definitely one I'd sharpen up and drop in the pocket. Don't retouch the main blade, it's a screwdriver now (probably what the original owner tried to use it as) :D Really cool find

Thanks :) I was thinking of making it a sheeps foot, but you have a really good point there! Would also be handy to have a screwdriver in my pocket haha, kinda like an electricians knife with the screwdriver. I may try to polish out the blades idk yet. Lets see how she sharpens first :)

Now.... that´s a cool find! I think I´d also walk more often through the park; but I don´t think I would find such a great looking knife near a mud puddle. But I´d look more closer the next time. ;)

Anyway - I´d reprofile the mainblade in some kind.

Hey....thanks for finding my knife......I'll PM you my address. :D

Nice find....what are the odds of a knife guy finding a knife?
I usually find buttons and tarnished pennies. :rolleyes:

Well, it took a while, but I re-profiled the blades and all but the main blade are now shaving sharp, if you look at my arm in the new picture. I have to admit though, the main blade is really buggin me haha. I am either gonna have to re grind it to get the big chip out or reshape the whole blade. Also, I have deffinatly lost more knives than I have ever found aswell. That is a very upsetting feeling when you reach in your pocket and feel that nothing is there...... gut churning.

Nute, the blade is most likely too high a temper to use as a screw driver. To do so, will probably break ity off even more. Just reshape to a sheep or wharnie and use as the good knife it is.

If you want a screw driver, drop one of these in your wallet.;

Lucky find. I used to find stuff on the ground all the time when I was a kid. My mother said it was because I had poor posture. Always looking down:)

Maybe a crazy idea, but a friend of mine had a broken blade like that, and I just sharpened the front edge for him like a tiny chisel. He uses it as a scraper.

Yes sir I only use a whetstone, a piece of ceramic and a strop I made from a leather welding sleeve and a 2x4 (its in the pic):-)

Also, I carry a can opener like that attached to a paracord lanyard and my lucky piece of turquoise everyday. It come in handy alot. I never leave home without it.

I am also curious about its age myself. Looks pretty darn old to me too.

'46-'73 is the approximate date range I've seen attributed to that stamp so I guess you could start with that.
