i just got off the phone with abe elias of Diving Sparrow Knife works.. my NBS knife is all ready to go.... i need to send him my payment and hopefully i'll have this guy by the end of next week or so...:D i can't wait..

i had abe modify the NBS design a bit... it sports a 4.5 in. O1 blade.. he took 1/2 an in. off the original 5 in. design... he also added a notch on the spine, next to the thumb grooves for striking a ferro rod... there is an extended tang, that has some notches/checkering on it, for digging bowls/spoons or carving notches in wood... all topped off with one of abe's nice looking leather sheath's, with a firesteel loop of course..:D

i absolutely love the color on the canvas micarta scales.. they're a nice dark mossy green...

what do you all think of this beauty...:D

I've been interested in these ever since I read a review of them on briar patch outdoor's website. I've heard nothing but rave reviews about diving sparrow. I'll be waiting to hear how it performs.

That's pretty darn cool man, kind of unconventional. I like it. Would love to see some comparison and in-hand pics when you get it.

That seems like a much bigger knife then what you usually go for Mike. Let us know how it works for you.

As anybody who knows me is aware of, an extended tang sells me almost every time. Very cool! I want to see the whole shebang in pants and hand.

thanks guys... i am really looking forward to getting this knife.. i have been waiting a while for it..:o

KGD-- you're right.. is a bit different from what i normally prefer to carry in the woods... i have always been a fan of abe's work and i really like the design of these NBS knives... i decided to go for one... even though they're not your typical woods knife...

i'll definately do a review and post some pics, when it gets here...:)

Ahhh I like it. Never been a fan of extended tangs, guess I have yet to have the need to bang a knife through or into somthing. That said, I AM willing to learn!

Hey Mike, great knife. I have a Puukko by Abe, and his handles are really sweet. My Puukko came razor sharp as well. Come to think of it, I am gonna have to get another of his soon. I really like his sparrow model.

Is that a hollow grind on that knife Mike?

Fit and finish is beautiful! The handles are real comfortable and the knife balances perfect. The knife holds an edge real well, steel is 1095. I haven't taken it out in awhile, since I have become more partial to blades with more belly, like my FiddleBack 1 off, but I still regard it as 1 of my better knives!

Glad to hear it's coming your way Mike.

I talked to Abe the other day and it sounded like he was getting a bunch of blades ready to go out.

This is your first knife from Diving Sparrow? (It won't be your last.) :)
