I got this kydex sheath in mail today and it is sooo cool, I love it. It is so small and light I can use my kat knife as a neck knife now. :)

It was masterfully made by Jeff H.....Thank you Jeff. Check out these pics.

Very nice, and its RED!!

That will get some attention next time you go to Walmart! Tell them you got it at the Lady's accessory department, right next to the purses:D

wow too cool! Nice work jeff! I also got something from jeff today. A nice braided leather baldric for my kephart. I will post pics when my knife arrives.

Wow Jeff nice work. Kathy that Kat is really nice too. What's funny is you both have something in common, both of your designs are going with me to Peru in a couple weeks.

Hey that looks great!

One question: What kind of handle is that on your knife? My daughter would really like that.

Thanks

Yes, my wife loves her Kat knife and with the kydex she keeps it in her purse. I asked her to borrow it today while out on the boat because I wanted a smaller knife with me. She just looked at me like I said the queerest thing. So I asked her again and she says 'oh you want to borrow my knife do you? Why don't you go sniffing around all your big honking knives over there....'.

So I ended up bringing out the buck diamondback - a somewhat poor substitute but the stainless is a bit of a blessing on the boat.

Jeff did a great job by the way on that kydex!

Thanks, Kathy. You can get a pretty good-sized cord through the 1/4" rivets so you can push a loop through and run the rest of your "necklace(?)" through the loop and the knife will lie flat. Using two rivets on a rectangular sheath is not necessary this way and you can cut down on a little bulk and weight. It willl also fit a small Tek-Lok if you choose to wear it as a belt knife. I was glad to get to handle the Kat knife - I WILL have one for myself.

............right next to the purses:D

Hey! I know of at least ONE very manly man who owns one of these "lipstick red" sheaths!:o

nice and slim and trim, looks like a nice compliment to the knife.

I appreciate that Siguy. That is my goal - to complement the knife, to make the sheath worthy of the knife. Knife-makers put their heart into a knife and I try to make the sheath not make their work look bad.

Very nice Kathy!! Looks like a sweet setup! M

"Sweet Setup," indeed! That is one sweet little knife - very handy and very much at home in a trim, light sheath. It's a very stout little knife without being heavy or bulky - a very well thought out design.

wow too cool!......A nice braided leather baldric for my kephart........

Again, I am honored that you are using that on such a special knife. I look forward to pics!

Now, that IS cool! The other "funny thing" is that you are the one who played "match-maker" with this sheath and knife. I "met" Bryan and Kathy because of your review on Bryan's PSKKII and Pathfinder. I am honored to be part of the "outfit" heading south and I hope that what we are seeing you off with serves you well. Take care down there. I am looking forward to future BTD reviews. I have some very nice "stuff" made by traditional crafters as a result of following your reviews.

Anyone who commented after Bear' - you slipped in while I was typing. Yeah, I'm slow. Thanks for the comments though!

The combination worked out great. If yoiu haven't handled the Kat Knife, it's one of the nicer "smallish" knives I have handled.

I would be interested to know what the handle is myself. It's wood but I was actually unable to discern wheter it was a laminate or solid.

Hey Jeff Your sheath looks great:thumbup:

I was making note of the red, because I read in Kathy's earlier post she takes the knife to Walmart and no one notices, I am sure the red will be noticed as it stands out nicely.

I meant no offence:o

I like this sheath so much that now i am not sure if i like my pathfinder better or my kat knife better. The kat seems to cut fruit better and now i can keep it in my purse or around my neck. Decisions, decisions....

I never said nobody noticed my knife at walmart. I am sure they did. There was even a police officer there and he did not say anything, but that could be because i used to work with him as a dispatcher...

This handle is called dymondwood and the color is called passionwood. Its hardwood, resin and dyes that are embedded in the wood with extreme heat and pressure. The olny thing is this kind of handle can crack when working with it. Mine cracked but you can hardly tell. We ordered it from jantz supply. There are tons of colors of this kind of handle too.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. And thanks again to you Jeff. This sheath does compliment the knife and makes it more versatile.

Where is the curvy hip that is supposed to come with that order on the side???  I am an unhappy customer! :grumpy: ... :D:p
