no box, paper work or sheath..so the search is on for a sheath

Nice pick up badw-I like those Classics-its on the "down the road" list or when I see one at a steal:D

Bad, Yes all 111 Classics have the old English Buck script stamp . It looks like 'Buck' on the rear bolster . I've not seen one with that . Good find, those are nice models . Some here have the entire set of Classics . DM

did buck make those elaborate handles for that 111, or are they an after-market customization? just wondering.

Man, Dave thanks for posting photos of those . I still wish Buck made these sheaths . Its really top quality work . DM

well well

MAJOR edit:
i said 420 and in fact i meant 440 C
all i can do is plead old timers
that i had been doing some thought in to
420 and well jest got the numbers wrong in the post!

i was glad to see that knife
4 dot 111's are not uncommon but are darn hard to find
four dot was made after the 3 dots and should be 425 steel
and the 3 dots should be 420hc and the first
that Bos did the heat treat on for buck
and three dots are the first and only 420 hc that has full hollow grind

did you know there are two different designs on the 111 frames?

making 3 different versions of the knife? ;)
3 dot original pattern frame
3 dot newer pattern frame
4 dot newer pattern frame
there are also sateen and mirror polish
on all 3 versions

Dave, are you saying that there were 420HC blades being used before the 425M?? Then they went back to 420HC?

Badws6, sweet 111 you got there... I been looking for one for some time too... I hope to get one soon... Nice pictures too... ITE ... ...

DM, I thought they all had buck on the rear bolster... But what do I know...

Mines a 3 dot satin finish like your middle one and I'll have to check but I didn't think it had the 'Buck' script stamp on the rear bolster . Discussions on this model always gets good . Thanks for the photos . DM

i have heard there was a classic 111 with out buck stamped on rear
early ones maybe?
i dont know .. would like to see one
yes the 3 dats are the last of the 420 HC
and the only dot blades that Bos did the heat treat
in my mind the best of the good old 110 bucks!
kinda hard to sharpen if you dont know how

Dave, you have to be meaning 3 "dats" were the last of 440C. You hitting the shed juice again?:D

Ok, I looked at my 3 dot 111 model again and it does have the 'script Buck' on the rear bolster . So, my error . Habbie, nice set . Who kept the original 111 blade ? DM
