Look what the cat drug in - my new ATR SS PE

Jill, interesting contrast in the serrations between Japan and the US made ATRs . . . The swedge looks a bit different too . . . More graceful and curvy (softer?) from Japan.

The triangular flat is shorter on the USA model. So there is some difference in the swedge.

I'd say Sal made an executive decision to alter the blade shape slightly, because it felt it was more in keeping with an oriental flair.:D

They certainly are better looking, as well as appear more aggressive for self defence.
I think the ATR looks good serrated. Those on the Japanese model give it a bad-ass look.

I got a Pe SS ATR at a gun show last month for $108.00 last month NIB, can I join the club? If I loosen the pivot on mine where the blade has very little drag, I can wave it open. All I have to do is pull it straight out of my pocket briskly.:D My ATR has the slickest action of any knife I own.

I had thought the difference in serrations had to do with the different steels involved as well as just the different craftsmen doing the work on two sides of a large ocean.

Which serrations do you prefer? Golden or Seki?

i have had a ti SE ATR and a SE SS ATR and i perfer the serrations on the ti one myself, i think the SS ones look cooler though.

i really like the ATR and have 3 ti's and one SS at the moment and wouldnt sell any of them, easily my fav spydie and really the only spydie i ever carry anymore(really the only production which imho speaks highly of it) though i guess i do still sometimes carry a millie or police, but only rarely, its usually either my ti ATR or my emerson custom '13.
