I just got the figured walnut blocks that I ordered from Don's brother David Hanson. I've never worked with walnut before, but I can't wait to tear into these, well worth the cost:thumbup: (not to mention the 2 extra blocks he threw in) . Sadly, I'm going to leave them for a few weeks to acclimate. I've sealed up the end grain with anchorseal and treated with gun-stock wax to make the figure stand out for the photo's. Should get some nice bowie and hunter handles out of these.

Have a good one,

Nathan

Nathan,
We should make an arrangement sometime soon to personally view those babies. The construction of my new shop will be completed and ready to move all those new tools purchased for knife making this weekend.

You got a good batch there Nathan.

David usually has some of the best walnut I've ever seen. Problem is he sells most of it before I get to pick through it :( But that's OK, I got more than I can use. :D

I just sold my first two knives ever to a couple of chaps in the UK this week.......see if you can guess what wood I used on both of them?:D As for you Don,perhaps your brother would let you have the pick of the litter IF you showed a little more interest in using his walnut instead of that musty crusty old elephant tooth stuff you seem so fond of:p :D So how do I get hold of him? I needmore....lol.
