Chris, you never get too old to play with new "toys" . . .
Enjoy buddy, show some pics of it when it is a little red on the inside with some of your steel goodies in it . . .

Matt, its my only oven! I was heat treating with a forge with a pyrometer and thermocoupling and oven for tempering. I can keep my forge to within 10 degrees so its worked out great with 1095. Now I will be able to expand steel choices. Ive been wanting to use some others but couldnt get the most out of the heat treat with the forge.
Cool. Different steels are fun to play with. I like 1095, but other options are good too. What steels are you thinking about?
I would like to try a few other carbons and some tool steels. Im not much of a stainless guy but who knows, might try some for kicks. I really want to try 52100 and L6 but Im not sure 52100 comes in barstock.
I picked up a forge some months back and remembered that thing sitting around getting dusty in that guys shop. Had to go to the middle of friggin nowhere to get it! But I am glad you got it. Hell of a deal!
The main reason im stoked about it is because now I have a reason to rewire the shop. I want to put a seperate box out there to just run the shop. Better lighting, 220v, etc. This will save me a ton of time because I could only run a couple tools at once. Soon I will be able to throw a ton more knives in for tempering and I will be able to grind at the same time. When I get another grinder I will be able to uy a 2hp and can have tackett over to grind at the same time.
Hmmn, I saw the statement, "can have Tackett over to grind at the same time" . . . . I saw the statement, "KFU expanding" . . . . let's see, both KFU & Tackett in Tenn, BA in southern Ohio . . . can anyone say "market cornered" & "knife monopoly" in Ohio, Kentucky, & Tenn. ??? . . . .
I would throw out that "C" word "colla . . .", ah, never mind, we all will know soon enough huh . . . .
Chris, all kidding aside, good to see you expanding yourself and the shop and investing in your future . . . .
Be safe.
