lookin' for hunting knife suggestions

For thin customs, don't overlook Koyote knives. You really should check them out.

I agree with udtjim. I just got a Leuku Bushcrafter from Koyote and after some very, very brief stropping, that thing cuts like a "frickin' laser-beam". He makes a great, thin convex knife.

I'd also suggest looking at David Farmer knives. He makes a super sharp convex knife with thin blades. Check out www.workingknives.com if you don't want to wait for him to make it. They keep a pretty good supply of his knives there. There is a Roach Belly I think would be the ticket for you over there right now. David's knives are worth twice as much as he charges IMO.

Thanks to those who mentioned my name. If you are looking for thin steel in your knife I
would say 1/16" is about as thin as you might want to go. I made BOS knife with a
1/16" thick blade and 3.75" long with a 4.25" long handle for Bear the dog he has had it about a week now. You might contact him and see what his thoughts are on it.

I had a customer from Colorado come to my shop yesterday to have his BOS knife made up for his hunting and wilderness adventures. He wanted his with a 4" blade with a 5/32" thick blade and a 4.75" long handle.

If I can help you out in making up a knife just for you let me know.

Wow! lotsa great ideas thrown out there....

Not a Fallkniven lover, so I can discount that one....

That Roach belly by David Farmer looks great! and perhaps the most tempting one I've seen, especially considering it's price.

Fiddleback has always been a helluva good guy. I wouldn't hesitate for a single moment to deal with him.

I've already seen some of what Richard J makes. Lotsa remarkably nice looking stuff, but haven't seen "it" yet. I may still contact him though, he is afterall selling his knives for one of the best causes a guy could.

Breeden is clearly coming highly suggested also.

I've been a huge fan of Scandi knives for a long time now, but I've kinda kept "general camping" and "hunting" as separate departments. I think that's part of the allure with the BRK Canadian Special is the thought of kinda bridging the gap between the two for the ever pursued "do it all" knife.

Oddly enough, the Kellam Wolverine kinda caught my eye.

Perhaps consider the old cheap Mora. Hell, they're light, thin, durable enough, cut like a laser and expendable. Get three of them....:D

Two more options....

an old Morseth blade blank I could put a handle on, and a couple of ten dollar Marbles blade blanks. I could stick a 2x4 on the end of it and whittle on it until the handle felt right...:D
