Lookin into fixblades to carry. Advice?

Cairn, thanks for posting the Adventurer picture.
I don't think you can lengthen a knife design and think it will be the same knife, only larger. Even 1/4" in a knife changes how it feels. They hit the sweet spot right on with the Adventurer. I would watch for one on the secondary market rather than buy the Adventurer II. Or, get The Essential, bolsterless version.

My first choice would be a Hess. Ditto for second choice, third choice, fourth choice, etc. It boggles my mind how Hess aren't more popular than they are here on the forums. Fantastic looking handles and sheaths, and 1095 carbon steel blades from GEC. All for just over the $100 mark. I say get one before they catch fire and double their prices.

They have an amazing price to quality ratio, I'm getting a caper as soon as my girlfriend looks the other way. I to am amazed that more here don't give them the time of day.

Oh and BTW I love my GEC H20, they can be had for under $40 without a sheath currently. Slim blade, great for edc and food prep task! I carry it 6 days a week about in my back pocket against my wallet.

If I remember correctly, there was a comment in different thread about a Bark River pattern that was a slightly shortened version of another Bark River knife, and that the new pattern just didn’t feel right for some reason. Another case of missing the sweet spot, I guess. It would be nice to be near a dealer where you could actually handle the knife you're interested in buying :).

I carry this small skinner made from a BF member daado. it's my edc and I love it use it so much it's a tuff little knife. I think said and done it cost me 70 bucks with a hand made sheath this guy is made out of a ball bearing so you can see the pitting he leaves in the knife adds a lot of character. Check him out worth the money and razor sharp

That was the case with me and the BRKT Featherlite Hunter. I was very much looking forward to using that knife; but ended up trading it for another Dozier.
I like the BRKT Mini Fox River quite a bit; but my two most commonly carried fixed blades are a bacustomknives EDC Utility and an LT Wright Patriot. (I feel like I've been playing this picture a lot, recently)

There are a couple of offers that highly recommend; but they aren't appropriate to this section.

I like an angled belt sheath. I am right handed so wear it on my left hip. Knife is easy to get out and back in, and it does not get in the way as a vertical carry sheath does. I have also found the dangler sheaths which are common with Finnish knives, to be a fine carry, never get in the way even when driving.

Do you have any pictures of (the back of) your sheaths? Your description sounds appealing, and I'd like to see what you mean. Also, did you buy (or alter) the sheaths separately from the knife or knives...?

Thanks!

P. i did not modify the sheaths. They are made with offset slots for the belt. If you buy the belt sheath for the BRK Adventurer it has 3 slots for the belt so it can be worn vertical or at an angle. I don't have a picture at present.

I only own, use and carry Fixed Blade Knives now.

These are my knives:

Buck Ranger Skinner #113 FB Knife

Buck Woodsman #102

Buck #119 Special

Buck Vanguard

2 Buck PakLite Skinner Knives

Ka-Bar #1211 Knife

Estwing Camp Axe

Sog Fasthawk

My top two favorites are the BUCK Ranger Skinner #113 which I carry in my fanny pack and the BUCK #119 Special which I open carry on a leather belt.

I keep the Ka-Bar #1211 knife by my bed.

I would suggest that you go to the WY .gov website for an updated version of your open/conceal KNIFE LAWS. This should be in an area by your gun laws.

MT laws differ on open and concealed knife and gun laws too. Inside and outside of some CITY limits and in some other places too. This does not only apply to government buildings and in some other specific places.

Best wishes to you.
