Well, I'm looking to buy myself an early Christmas gift. I'm looking for a new medium to hard use EDC folder with a budget of about $150. What would you guys suggest?

What I'm looking for in an EDC:

-Medium to hard use
-Satin or stone washed blade (no coated blades)
-Blade length of 3 to 3 and a half inched

I second the ZT0350 in S30V stonewashed great package and you can un do the Speed Assist and make it a standard flipper if you like.

yea, I knew that one was coming. Been eyeing that earth brown G10 sprint run with S35V.

Yeah, it's a bit of a stock answer. The damn thing is so popular that I perversely really wanted to dislike it. It's ugly, has bad blade to handle ratio and is insanely hyped. Now if I could only stop using it so much I might be able to dislike it! ;)

M4 should be tougher and hold an edge longer but its not stainless so it will discolor and rust if you put it away wet.

Benchmade Rift is my suggestion. I also want a superleaf and they are now discontinued so I will suggest it as well.

Not familiar with the blade steel on this one. How does CPM M-4 stack up to S30V?

Significantly better in every regard but corrosion resistance

Here's knarfeng's wear resistance graph with those two

Benchmade 520 Presideo! Definitely falls into the hard use category, blade length around 3.4", satin blade with the awesome Axis lock. It's a little on the heavy side and it can be a pocket shredder but that may not be an issue for you. My favorite knife overall and my favorite folder in the hand.
