I have looked at the Beretta Cx4 Storm but its about 6-700 bucks. i have owned one of the hi-point 995's and to be honest, it was flawless... just ugly as hell and very loosely put together. what about the kel tec sub 2000? anyone have any experience with any of the 9mm carbines out there? thanks

ATI has a new stock for th Hi-Point that makes it look like a Storm.Link They're about 60 bucks most places I believe. That would be my choice.

Cool kiahs. Thanks. The Hi-Point 995 is a tough little carbine. Like I said, as far as shooting goes, never ever had a jam or FTF/FTE, EVER! she ate everything i ever fed her. i am going to check into that link. thanks again

Yeah, I've thought about getting one a few times, but come to the realization that everything it can do, my Saiga 223 can do better. If I need 9mm, my P95 works just fine. If I need more than it can deliver, then I need a better caliber, instead of a longer barrel. I've heard reports of a Hi-point .45 carbine in the works. That, I might buy. Maybe.

May I ask why 9mm? If just for plinking, I think it would be a fun little gun, but 22lr is so much cheaper to feed. Even 7.62x39. Defense gun maybe? Do you live in the city, or a rural area?

whoa whoa kiahs. buddy, the 7.62x39 is NOWHERE near as cheap as the 9mm. 9mm is the second cheapest centerfire cartridge on the market. and also, why 9mm? imo, its the best pistol round ever. just my opinion though. the trajectory is faster than that of a 40 and a 45... the bullet isnt as big, not much recoil... and all the while very deadly, as any round when PROPERLY PLACED. i will just say this... i would rather hit with a 9mm than miss with a 45. ;)

Just looked around on the net, 7.62x39 has went up quite a bit since I last bought any. (It's been a long time), so you're probably right. What's the first cheapest? 7.62x54r? 8mm?

So is a 22lr, but I wouln't take it to a gun fight.;)

Of course, but I'd also rather hit with a 45 than miss with a 45.

I had no intention of putting down 9mm. I have one and like it. I just don't think it is the greatest pistol round ever. But then I don't think 45 is either.

Sorry K.V., I was typing before your reply, and didn't see it. Came here from the front page and didn't realize what forum I was in.

This was directed at reconseed but holds true anyone. Please read the rules of the specific forum you intend to post in.

Marlin makes one called the camp carbine. It uses S&W magazines costs between $325 and $350

Ruger makes a nice one called the pc9, uses Ruger pistol mags. Costs about $450.

My friend has the Ruger. It has a nice plastic stock. I've fired it, Comfortable to shoot. Can't attest to accuracy, we were shooting empty soup cans at about 25 yards, Not benchrest at paper targets.

There's also the option a 9mm AR upper if you already own the lower, MP5 clones, Mac-11 (I think 11 is 9mm, not sure), etc. But if I was going to get a 9mm carbine, I would stick with the Hi-Point. It's your cheapest option, peep sights, reliable, and comfortable to shoulder. Your main drawback is a 10 round mag limit, that's just 2 intruders before you have to reload.:D (joking)

so i cant post anything in here now that the mod moved it?

You can continue to post in this thread because it is now in the correct forum. Do not start Gadgets & Gear related topics in Community. Continuing to do so will only get you infraction points. Get enough of those and you'll be on the outside looking in. That Announcement I posted at the top of the Community Forum is there to help you. I can not be held responsible for what happens should you fail to read it and follow it.

The Kel-tec is a great gun for the price and can be setup for your pistols mags. I have read many good reviews and will be getting one myself to match my Glock 19, except I will opt for the larger cap. mag for the carbine. Dave:)

The Beretta Storm is an exceptionally good gun and well worth the money, IMO. I've shot one several times and been very, very impressed with it. It is one of the top guns on my wish list. I just don't have the cash for it now.

I'm not that great of a shot but with the Storm at 50 yds I can keep a magazine in the black standing, offhand with the iron sights. At 25 yds, I shoot about 2-3" groups. At 10 yds at the pistol range, it's just one ragged hole. The accuracy of the Storm is exceptional, the ergos are great, it is overall a very handy, sturdy package. With the iron sights, it is quick pointing and fast on target. I think of it as a poor-man's semi auto MP5. With a red dot, it would be superb. The Storm would be a great gun for home defense, or as a trail gun, it's really fun as a plinker as well. The only drawback is the recoil is suprisingly high, due to the very light weight I guess. I notice the recoil more with the Storm than with a pistol because the recoil impulse goes through the stock and into the shoulder, rather than being absorbed by my arms. But it recoils straight back, and your sights barely waver from the target on rapid fire.

what!!!! no way man!!! 9mm having recoil??? cmon... the storm doesnt weigh anywhere near what a pistol does... the storm i shot had minimal recoil, at best.
