Looking at picking up a GEC...need your help.

I have had a couple 66's and as nice as they are, they are just not for me. They have always seemed a bit chunky and that would be alright if they had the snap to back up the build. A solidly built knife with mediocre snap doesn't quite fly with me I guess.

On the other hand I find myself liking my #38 far more than anticipated. I find it quite attractive in stag, it is fairly slim and has enough blade length to get the job done. I like using it more than a #48. I really would have loved to see a half whittler on this frame again with a little more svelte blade than what the Wilamette Whittler wore.

My #35 Churchill is enroute so my opinions will have to wait on that. It looks promising and I do like equal ends. I am probably in the minority wishing for a spear main on this one but that aside, this one looks like it has real potential.

I'm in strong agreement with Jamie on this one.

The 66 Jack is chunky and rather heavy given its size, liked my many but not my cup of tea.

The 38 is Special, well my Bocote one is:D

It also comes as a two blade Pruner- the greatest SFO from Lyle, a Pen configuration Northwoods and the 3 blade Whittler. I find the single blade Special to be elegant and rather like a Laguiole.

As for the Churchill, initially I wasn't interested and again I'm with Jamie that a Spear might be more useful. However, I changed my mind when I saw the Cougar Clawed Bone and stamped Tidioute shield. Probably they chose Clip master because the Forum Knife and Harness Knife 35 which is the same frame, have Spears. Two very useful blades, broad handle but not clunky or heavy in the pocket. Mine has peerless build quality & I like single spring Pen type construction, a knife up for work it seems to me.

Sort of going through the same search for the perfect EDC myself. I have a #38 Special and feel it is a perfect apple eating knife :). Slim in the pocket, long blade and elegant, classic profile. Prettier closed than open though in my opinion, sort of hump backed when open.
I am really drawn to the stag #48 Improved Trappers as well as the Bloodwood version. Two perfect blades for me. A slender clip for food related EDC tasks and the slender Warncliffe for mail, packages and trimming paper and labels to size. Bloodwood seems a classy EDC office cover while the stag makes me think camp and woods knife for food prep and light tasks. Everytime I am ready to pull the trigger the single blade jigged bone #48 Weasel looks at me and says I'm even cooler than the #38 and I waver. Of course someone always has to then post a pic of a #35 in Cougar Clawed Bone and I go off in another direction. I can see that eventually I will own more than one #48 (if I can ever decide on a first #48) and me, a guy who really prefers smaller knives.
