June 20th I moved to Idaho from Houston, Texas, in a Penske truck. Stopped for a hike in Sam Houston National Forrest for a hike, and continued on to Amarillo Tx. The next morning I hiked Palo Duro Canyon, the second largest canyon in the country. Then I continued on through New Mexico and into Colorado. I stopped at Garden of the Gods and hiked through Pike National Forrest in Colorado Springs. Ate at Beau Jo's Pizza and hiked up Lion's Peak in Teddy Roosevelt National Forrest, then camped out at White Rabbit outside of Rocky Mountain National Park. Spent a day in the National Park, summited an 11,000 foot peak after buying a new pair of wool socks in Estes Park because at this point mine were trashed. Drove through Wyoming and Utah and up through Idaho into Boise. The next three days I spent hiking the trail system that started right outside my door. As it turns out my landlord is also an outdoors junky, specifically whitewater rafting. He got me hooked on kayaking and I floated the Main Payette, Lower Gorge of the Salmon and the Snake River through Hell's Canyon. I camped out countless nights in Payette National Forrest, Boise National Forrest, Frank Church Wilderness Area, and Nez Perce National Forrest; spent time in the Seven Devils climbing She Devil twice and He Devil once, killed two very high end point and shoot cameras, wore holes in the soles of a pair of Minnetonka mocs and North Face Rucky Chuckies, saw my first wild elk, wolves, mountain lions and mountain goats, stepped foot in 9 new states for the first time, ate Chinese food in Lewiston, WA, took 16,000 pictures, drank 7 handles of George Dickel whiskey, put two vehicles in the ditch, was passenger in another that wound up in the Gold Fork river, built a log cabin in McCall, Idaho... not bad considering I've been jobless and living on a 600 dollar a month budget...
