any one have a scrap plate of 3v that's 1/4 of an inch thick by a few inches wide they would be willing to heat treat and sell?

I would say that there is no such thing as a scrap plate of 3V. 2 inch wide .270 thick 3V goes for like $42 a foot even at low Aldo prices.

I'll have another batch of 3V stuff going out for HT in a few weeks. If you're not in a big hurry, send me a pm with more specifics, we can probably work something out.

ok just sent you a pm do you know any really expirenced heat treaters that can get the best toughness out of this steel at rc 60 to 61? I know crucible data sheets say 59 is he best for toughness but I know some sword makers that have got guys geting the best at rc 60-61 which would be perfect for me.

Might as well send to Peters. They're pros, after all. I'm sending a batch of 3V swords out to them in a month or two.

Thanks for the heads up about peters crimson, since you have your swords heat treated by them do you know how tough they are against impact at 60 to 61rc?

I don't, sorry. I usually go for 59-60 HRC, although I'm about as far from expert as you get. James or Big Chris would likely have better data on that than I.

just checked out texas knife maker supply they don't have cpm steels. could you guys perhaps sell me a piece in the dimentions I need and then I could go to them for the heat treat?
