Looking for 4" fixed blade

One more vote for the 16,
This is because, for the money, Beckers can't really be beaten, especially with the ergos.
Even with aftermarket scales and a (maybe not the absolute TOP of the line...) custom sheath, you're still in it under $100...
No brainer for me.
I know Essee has good blades, and excellent attention to detail on fit'n'finish, but they're too rich for my blood, especially for 1095.
It's Ka-Bar's Beckers for my fixed blades.
A 15 is gonna be my next one.

How is that? Please let me know where I can get that setup for under $100.

Are you not counting the price of the knife?

Let's see, knife costs 60 bucks + shipping, the micarta scales run 35, which doesn't leave much for a sheath, although that should still be around the 35 mark. Looks more like 130ish if you don't make your own stuff, or get a good deal used.

I will be in my 16 about $190 with the TKC G10 scales that are on it and the 710 sheath I am about to order. Worth every penny to me.

I guess you're right, with kydex ball parking at $30, And micarta about the same. Not sure where my head was, I don't often mod my blades beyond smoothing the rough coating via sandpaper.
But I still think that if you can live with one or either of the stock options, you can't beat the value.

I love my 16! Very comfortable handle. In this size of a knife I'm not swinging it all around and the zytel handles work fine for my uses. I've never handled the ESEE, but I don't get why a knife that small needs a choil. I'm anti-choil and I realize this is totally personal. Plus all the comments about the 16 being Mr. Becker's favorite say quite a lot.

I don't own a BK 16 or an ESEE 4 so let me tell you what you should do.

No not really I just wanted to wish you well on your decision. Either way you get a new knife and that's always good.

Thanks just making sure I wasn't grossly overpaying. I am actually too embarrassed to admit how many Beckers I've bought in the last week.

The wife would not approve!

The best part, to me , is that you can only be in it at $60ish for however long you wish and piece together your upgrades at your own pace.
"No waiting in aisle 16!"

Get your Blade and use it...have fun with some mods, pick an choose upgrades later, maybe hold out or pre-loved pieces or an auction deal...yeah...it could happen!
I got my second one used...(wife claimed my first brand new on arrival!)
Stripped, convexed, with kydex AND a BK14 for $65! Poke around and be patient, it'll come.

The BK16 arrived at Panther Concealment yesterday, this is a picture Jim sent me. Should have the knife and sheath in a week, maybe a little longer depending on Jim's schedule.
