I'm looking to start EDCing a fixed blade I really like the look of the izula 2 but want to maybe get in to something custom preferably G10 or micarta scales possibly wood. Budget is around a 100 dollars. I would also like to carry it as a boot knife in my cowboy boots so preferably a leather sheath I think for it or would Kydex be better. I am not very informed of Fixed blade brands and makers I'm more into folders so thanks for the help.

The ESEE 3 is in that size range and there are custom scales available, iirc. Solid knife. Simple, functional.

Blade length on the 3 is 3.8 inches which is a bit bigger than I want. I would like something closer to 3 inches.

Just a quick note of caution. Most fixed-blades with short blades also have short handles. Check the ergos to make sure that whatever knife you decide on is comfortable and controllable in your hand.

My personal favorite short-bladed knife is the Fallkniven F1. With a 3.8" blade, it's a little longer than you specified. But it's a great knife by any standard and has plenty of handle length to provide a secure grip even with gloves on.

I think for my hand size i need just under a 4 inch handle to make it comfortable.

I have a Blind Horse Knives, I believe woodsman ( the smaller) that has become my standard camp knife for the last year, replacing a few others and I totally love it. The blade is 2.7 inches and handle is 4.15 inches which someone else already mentioned, most small blades have very short handles, not here. It also has a decent dangle sheath and I added a fire steel and a little patina. I know they have split business but they frequently show up here, and who doesn't like a good carbon steel for a sharp edge.

I like the BHK frontier valley, also being made by Battle horse knives, either Battlehorse or LT Wright knives offer some great choices. Maybe a little smaller to your liking but I also like any of the neck knives by Jason (?) Wilder or Childress. Or keep checking out the exchange for GL Drew's small hunters, usually with 52100 steel and cocobolo wood scales, about 3 - 3 1/4 inch blades.

The Survive! Knives 3.5 is the only knife you need.

Here is mine and a survive necker in clear kydex sheathes that I made for them.

Bk-24 and Spyderco Street Beat are both nice knives. The SB is a tad more than your budget, but you can probably find a used one for that. Plus it already has a nice sheath and nice handle scales. The BK is cheaper, but can still be fancied up with aftermarket accessories.

Take a look at the LT Wright Patriot.

I'll second this - I'm not really a small knife guy (Enzo Trapper and BRK Bravo are my idea of comfortably sized handles); but I recently purchased a Patriot, and rather like it. In fact, I just ordered 2 more with different handles. In theory, they will be gifts; but I'll probably end up keeping at least one of them.

Thanks guy I have some research and looking to do. I probably won't be purchasing until summer time but I may be able to sneak it in with my tax return.
