I'm looking for an approximately 3" fixed blade and would like some suggestions if you have any.

Here's my must-have criteria:

Blade length about 3"
Overall length about 7"
Drop point or spear point.
Full flat grind, full convex grind or a very high flat grind.

Here's my preferences (I'm flexible on these):

Full flat grind or full convex grind.
Stainless or semi-stainless (D2) steel.
High ride style belt sheath (no danglers a-la Fallkniven).
Full tang
Comfortable synthetic handle.

I am considering a Fallkniven WM1. It comes pretty close to what I have in mind but of course I would have to get an aftermarket sheath. I'm just wondering what else is out there that meets my must-have criteria that I may not be aware of.

Cost is not a factor.

The problem is not a lot of factory knives are made with a flat or convex grind. Busse badger or Busse mean street might fit your bill. If you are willing to go with hollow ground, Benchmade nimravus cub fits the bill. If you are willing to go hollow ground and hidden tang, Griffon makes a Terzuola boot knife, However if cost is really no factor You could get Bob Terzuola to make you one of his fixed blades. Blade magazine says Bob is back making fixed blades again. Al Polkowski makes some nice blades along your needs, You could probably get him to flat grind or convex grind one.

Take a look a the Bark River Woodlans Special. 3", convex grind, A2 steel, and a great brand. I haven't used the woodland but have several others and they are top notch.

Dont know how much you want to spend, but you have pretty much described a Bob Dozier knife. His newer line of semi-custom (mid-tech?) knives are very high flat grinds, D2 steel, micarta handles and blade and OAL are available in a variety of lengths.

I picked this one up yesterday from AG Russell (check his site for a good selection).

Take a look a Bark River Knives

Some very good knives for the price. Several models fit your criteria.

Thanks! The BRKT Woodland certainly does meet my must-have criteria and it's one I hadn't thought of.

Look at a RAT 3 fits everything including the D2.

Thanks but w/ a 3.5" blade and almost 8" OAL it's a little big. Great knife though. I used to have one.

Thanks... This is a good looking knife and it comes really close to everything I want. The A2 would be a pain to keep pretty since this knife will certainly be a user, but it may be worth the effort. I am reasearching this knife now.

Thanks for the suggestion. The Dozier Personal Utility listed at AG Russell looks like it fits well in to my criteria also. I researching this one also.

I think a bark river highland or woodland would be fine or the fallkniven wm1.eany of the three would do the job.I like the kydex neck sheath for the wm1.

+1 on dozier knives......also look at gene ingram knives, like his model 12--about $160 .

and unfortunately a 3 month wait.:( (but worth the wait)

I'll agree with sak_collector. Order a Dozier from A. G. Russell. He always has a few models in stock, and customer service is superior.

Your describing a Bark River Knfie & Tool E.L.K. (Essential Little Knife) almost perfectly.

DLT Trading Company has them on sale right now.

You can't go wrong with Bark River but you might also take a look at David Winston custom knives. Great looking knives with a super fit and finish and great prices. The knife below has weathered elk scales but Mr. Winston will work with whatever type handle material you want. ($165 dollars)

I will have to second the Bob Dozier line. He has sizes that should satisfy just about anyone.

Today, I too got my Dozier Arkansas Toothpick from AG Russell. Ordered it Monday got it in the mail today. It drew blood from my finger it's first day in its new home. All it took was a very light tap of the edge and it got me!

Carefull!
