looking for a close-toed shoe that i can wear running and walking around that will get me as close to barefoot as possible...
in order to race in highschool you need to wear closed-toe shoes (but there is no such rule in college and professional level races
) so i have been wearing my cheapest (and thinnest) sneakers to run in when i have to, but these still have a pretty large heel wedge (looks like close to 1").
also, in the cooler months and in snow, going barefoot can be mighty chilly...and i would like to be able to run races basically barefoot. this is more of a big deal with longer distances, where a large heel wedge causes fatigue in my calves (like high heels for women). for sprints it is not really noticeable, but i would rather not have to think about it at all.
so i already know what i can wear to give me some sole protection in the warm months and when there are no regulations for footware, but i'm interested in finding basically a sheet of rubber with a sock attached...
even in the winter when i can't stand to have my feet exposed, i still want to maintain an un-impeded cadence and keep my ankles and foot muscles strong.
can anyone help me out? or will i have to resort to rubber tool dipping a pair of socks? (
