get a hf 1x30 it is a awsome belt sander iam getting into knife makeing and withthe right belts and a good hand and eye you are all in the clear

They were all out around me also.I went ahead and took the plunge and bought one online.I already have a 2x72,a 1x30,and a 1x42",but what the heck for $99. (+tax and shipping of course)it is a great deal.It appears to have a nice big flat spot for grinding flat blades.There are plenty of belts available on ebay for pretty cheap too,leather included.Now i can keep each grinder set up for specific functions.(or not)As far as the guards in the way,i've gotten pretty good at removing that stuff.
