Looking for a BIG knife.......................

I was in the maket for exactly what you are in it for. an all around camp knife.

I thought a trailmaster had it all. I was wrong. I don't think bowies make good camp knives. they are great fighters

but for a camp I am gonna get a Kukri for chopping power.

the "la duena" would be an excellent choice. what is the thickness on it?

also the brute would be an excellent choice.

I love cold steel and have many knives but I think the trailmaster is not the way to go for a camp knife.

The La Duena is an awesome knife.

The Brute is an excellent choice. I have been very impressed with mine.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the Falklkniven A1.

What about the Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works bowies? Ted Frizzell makes several styles, and offers ten inch and twelve inch blades. Brass guards are available for an additional charge. Does anyone own one and can comment on it? I never see much written about the Mineral Mountain knives on these forums.
I myself ordered a Mineral Mountain Long Knife, which is a short sword (16 inch blade) with a very wide blade. It is very solidly build, but much heavier than I expected. For myself I find it to be rather unweildy. Of course, the bowies have shorter blades so they should be much lighter.

Maybe it's in bad taste to say so (because I sell them), but I think Mineral Mountian are the best large knives out there. Lately I've become especially impressed by their edge retention. None of the other knves I've used are so hearty. Okay, I'll stop now. Good luck!
