Looking for a Bolo-style blade

I've "seen" one. Actually I have one.:D

The handle is actually quite comfortable, and you can attach a lanyard if you want. It's their biggest model, the KH.

It doesn't look like its seen much field use... but, still, a badass trio!

Thanks

How 'bout a bolo from Reflections of Asia? Villager quality worker. Hand forged for $25, can't be beat. They won't win any beauty contests but dollar for dollar they're one of the best deals out there.

Frank

Actually, they do look good for the price.

Thanks for the lead.

I'm looking into getting a Damascus Bolo from Valiant. They look really sweet, & I've read good things.

I like the Valiant goloks, especially if cutting thicker stuff, i.e. saplings an small tress, large limbing jobs, etc. Check out Old Jimbo's site for a ton of Valiant info, as he is the one that got me hooked.

For much less money you can get a tramontina or Martindale. Sharpen it up, sand down the handes, and for light grasses and such you have a really good tool. Not as good on thicker stuff, binds too readilly compared to the Valiant.

Another knife you may want to considersis the Kershaw (Outcast I think). The handle is a bit thin for my taste, and it is an odd use for D2 steel (to my eye kinda expensive steel to buy and grind, and wear resisitance is not important to me on a chopper) but an interesting knife. I used mine to take down, limb amd buck some small trees. Worked just fine, but I really wish the handle was thicker.

You should contact custom knifemaker Bill Siegle. He will make you a great bolo style knife for a very reasonable price.
