Hey everyone I've been looking for a clip point bowie for a while. Mostly for use outdoors camping. Now before you tell me how that's not the ideal design for that... I know. But I love the idea of how classicly American the knife design is and I would love to own a good one. Looming to spend about 250$ or less. Any ideas?

Yea I considered cold Steel I was hoping for something a little more idk rustic looking but with the price range I might be limited

My lady has a shadowtech wolf bowie that is pretty badass, just under $100 too. Micarta handles and kydex sheath included. I highly recommend it for a midsize fixed bowie.

You'd have money left over for other tools you need, too.

Look for a Western W49 Bowie. There are some on that auction site that are in user condition. Below your price cap too.

Also the Cold Steel Natchez is a true bowie

The good guess is that the original "Bowie Knife" looked more like a French Chef's Knife.

Most of those clipped point beauties came from Britain.

I want one too!

My suggestion as well. Also, I would recommend perusing the maker's forum here for "traditionally" styled bowies, or even contact a maker and get one made to your specifications. I'm sure you could have one made in your price range.

The Marbles Trailmaker is a nice one if you can find one. Boker has at least one large Bowie. KaBar had a traditional looking bowie, and some of the Bucks might work.

However, if it were me, I would go to some of the big on-line knife sellers and use their search function to see what they have.

Very true I actually have some period knives which are more of the French trade style and butcher style which is more accurate of a frontiers knife than then bowie. The bowie was designed as a fighter. That being said no knife is more ironically American in my opinion than the bowie, and it's also known as the knife that settled the american west. So for those reasons id like to have one but your right the clip points were originally sheffield knives.

This is the closest thing I've found yet without looking into the knives listed here yet.

What the knife that made Bowie famous most likely looked like was a large heavy butcher style knife. No clip. Like this:

Not sure about the Natchez Bowie, it's got a cable tang that's not very well suited for outdoor use. Great looking knife though
