OP. Good choice - gotta have a Bowie.
Have you considered going the custom route?
Check out Bensinger and Hardedgeknives here on the forum for example.

This Western W49 was down right affordable here on the forums

After some elbow grease and time it became this

Same for this Western 46-8

Or a Buck 120 General

All 3 together fall within the OP's financial requirement :)

Beautiful job on that W46, Ebbtide.

I got a Buck 119 that fits the bill. Got the flap sheath. I also like the KaBar 1236 Bowie... it's worth a look.

Personal fave is the Camillus OVB Fisk Bowie. Got one in Desert Ironwood and one in Fiddleback Maple... I may just seek out one in each of the other handle materials too, I like them so much. They carry like they're made of waterproof smoke.

+1 on the Lon Humphrey... I got a Gunfighter Bowie and I'm loving it:

On a more value oriented note, maybe a Becker BK9 (as mentioned) or BK7--either can be outfitted with nice wooded scales from Tommythewho and a custom kydex or leather sheath--you would get a more classic look, a great knife, and be under or at your stated dollar amount.

I have a BK20 (limited run)--total beast but not exactly a belt knife:

The other knife you may consider is the SOG Super Bowie--with the leather sheath and stacked leather handle, it is somewhat classic and by all accounts pretty tough (though I have no personal experience with it). Lastly... Swamp Rat still has its Rodent 9 up for sale. I have lots of Busses, but no Rats... HOWEVER... Swamp Rat knives are beasts, reasonably priced, and guaranteed for life.

Happy hunting man...

Do not know if you want a smaller Bowie in that price. Range, but Tim Ridge from Swamp Fox knives makes some good ones. I have a smaller cowboy Bowie with a approx. 6 inch blade. The one I like of his also is a butcher type knife with an 7 inch blade. Lots of great makers in the exchange. These are some of my ML Hudson Bays, an Idaho knife works, the Swamp Fox butcher 2nd from bottom, and then my GL DRew cowboy Bowie. The two in your price range are the bottom two, although makers change their prices.

On the more affordable and still good quality bowies, to me meaning production, I like the Becker 7 or 9 and get some micarta scales, just right. Lots of good ones out there.

Boker Arbolito Esculta is a nice take a classic traditional design.

EnTrek subhilt silhouette has a bit more of a original design

Here's a Case Bowie just for the heck of it.

Had one of those back in the day. It came with a black leather sheath and even a presentation plaque that held the knife and sheath.

Sold it on the bay for $60 and used the proceeds to buy a BM 970, which has also long since been sold.

Wish I had them both back, really.

Very true I actually have some period knives which are more of the French trade style and butcher style which is more accurate of a frontiers knife than then bowie. The bowie was designed as a fighter. That being said no knife is more ironically American in my opinion than the bowie, and it's also known as the knife that settled the american west. So for those reasons id like to have one but your right the clip points were originally sheffield knives.

Not really the knife that settled the American west either. That would probably go to a Green River/Russell.

But that's hardly the point...you want a clip point/Iron Mistress/Thorp Bowie, and that's what you want.

The W49 and Von Tempsky are probably right in your wheelhouse.
