Looking for a car

Oh boy oh boy! I'm gonna neglect the 0-60 in under 5 seconds for a 4door as I just don't see a tax return hit those numbers. BUUUUUUT if you wanna throw some smoke and blast by your buddies on the top end....

Lexus LS400 - 4.0 v8 1uz

Or a

BMW 540I 4.4 v8 M62

Both throw chunks of rubber and wire if you want. The Ls can easily be swapped with a 6speed from the supra for about 1000 while the BMW can be found standard with a 6 speed.

Whoa, just saw your return is to be 40,000! I don't even want to type that kind of list haha.

I didnt get $40000, I got $8500.

$40000 is my budget give or take $5000

Top end doesn't really interest me. I haven't driven faster than 70 mph in months. Acceleration is what interests me. Right now I do 0 - 60 in 6 seconds. Im used to it now and would like a 0 - 60 time of 5.2 seconds or less stock

Its in your budget and right around your acceleration needs, 4 doors and awd Quattro. I have a 2014 audi a6 it's a beast. I traded in my 2008 for it and its understated and not fuggly like a lot of the BMWs. Really enjoyable car. The 2008 was a little rougher had less horsepower and more fun to drive because you had to work it. The new a6 pretty much drives itself almost. It has a sport mode that simply launches the car nicely.

If you floor it like that how the hell you stop at 70? I can't do it. 80 is my normal highway cruising speed and that's pretty tame.

Lol. I've driven in Virginia, and with that sprawl and congestion my first priority would be comfort and toys/features. 'Cause driving in Virginia, you're going to be sitting in that car for hours, stopped.
Only if you don't know when to drive where and when not to drive where.

Getting to pick and choose when and where you drive in this area in not a luxury all of us have. The traffic in the DC/MD/VA area is terrible. It's a scientifically proven fact...:)

Plus, the Caddy will depreciate into a rattly squeaky pile of rubble once it ticks over 50k miles (also unanimously agreed upon).

YMMV but my CTS-V is at 96K miles and almost 10 years old. It is still tight and quiet and runs like a new car.

My german owning experience relates to Jettas and a Scirocco. They do become rattly/squeaky after awhile. My father has owned a garage for over 50 years and works on a variety of cars. He has had POS in his shop from all brands. I remember one of his customers had complained to the local Mercedes dealer about cost of parts and service for his car, the dealer told him "if you can't afford the repairs on this car then you shouldn't be a Mercedes owner". That said I have occasionally thought about what it would like to own one of the better BMW models, not the fake ones like 323, 320, 318, but I'm just not the kind of person to be seen driving one. Unfortunately 90% of the BMW owners have made it bad for the 10% who are real car enthusiasts. I'm a watch enthusiast and own a Rolex but won't wear it for the same reason.

^ the cts has a vette engine stuffed into it as well, lots of fun!

BMW is the Spyderco of car companies. They're not the best at any one particular thing, however, they're exceedingly good at all categories. Get in an M car with three pedals, the stars align, yin and yang is balanced, and you have an awakening - an understanding and appreciation for what is the bigger picture. "But the Delica is ugly." Just use it, you'll see… It's the very same.

The M156 in the C63 is a beast that plays the most sinister of songs when when jab the pedal on the right. It's a brute.

The B8 S4 is a supercharged V6, and while I'm not the most enthusiastic about Audi (or VAG in general), it really is a sharp looking car. Audi is still king of interiors, and it would really be a great (flippin' fun) option in the snowy months.

The AMG is auto-only, tragically.

Also, chip and slap an exhaust on a 335i and add 100hp/100tq. Though the early N54 was a bit finicky, IIRC.

If we're talking about just a fun car I'd go for that new 350 HP Ford focus RS over anything, just need to feed that turbo which sucks but it's par for the course with turbos

My commute into and out of NOVA is now 42 miles one-way, so, trust me, I know what the traffic is like in NOVA. I assured I was in a position to most easily arrange the timing of my commute. Those who can't should seriously consider using VRE and Metro.

Similar situation here. I was lucky enough to land a gig working just nights, so no rush hour for me! :)
