Looking for a chart on the various knife steels

I had a site bookmarked and I have lost it or something! :eek: Anyway the site I am talking about is a chart that gives the various knife steels from 1075-through some of the more exotic. It tells the proper working temps as well as the quench medium and heat treat processes, etc., etc.

I am trying to do some side by side comparison and get as much info before I order some new quench oil.

Anyone know of the chart I am talking about I would appreciate a link to the site. Thanks in advance for any help on the subject!:D
 
OK I know I have seen this chart and I thought I had it bookmarked.............................Anyone else know what I am talking about?

Like the page author notes in his description there, he isn't a maker or a particular authority, the data is collected by the individuals listed through the search narrow functions to the published reference materials for those details.

I use it for just quick cross referencing other charts really.

Patrice posted the link to Zisoft's Knife Steel Composition Ap--very nice, quick reference. Not absolutely complete yet, for example, 15n20 isn't on there. While there's no droid based HT ap yet, there's supposedly one for iPhone.
 
Thank guys the one I was referring too I still haven't found but there is great info in those links. It was just like a list starting at 1065 - all the way up through the more exotic steels. It covered all of the info you could ask for, from non-magnetic, to optimum working temps, proper quench mediums, proper HT. Anyway I can find what I am looking for on this thread. I have got to back and reorganize my bookmarks. I changed to a new PC recently and even though I kept all my old bookmarks the PC reorganized them for me and I can't find a damn thing!

Thanks Dixie, I was just going to ask the same thing!
But....
What I'm actually looking for is TTT charts for common steels, there's lots of composition info and suggested HT processes, but what I REALLY need to find is the chart, so I can see for myself what the steels are doing!
Last night I did some 440c and I'm concerned that I didn't cool it quickly enough- fumbled a bit trying to get it out of the foil...

A few hours later- for anyone interested in charts- Mr. Cashen has generously posted info for common forging steels on his website, most include charts. Also, I found this: http://www.metalravne.com/selector/html/special_steels.html
Pretty comprehensive, hope it's helpful for someone- there are charts for just about everything.
