Im looking for a cheap knife for travel and almost disposable. I always hear of knives going missing in luggage. So I don't want to worry about taking my more expensive blades and plan to get a few of them.

I guess its safe to say that cheap and quality dont go together, perhaps I could rephrase with Im looking for a low cost, quality knife that is easily replaceable. I.E cheap :D

So can I get something under $50 that is still good quality?

I would like a liner lock with plain edge around 3 inches.

For some reason I don't like spidercos so anything but that.

Benchmade makes an inexpensive one, the Vex I think. If that's wrong, someone please correct me.

Kershaw Skyline for around 30$ at WalMart. It is an excellent knife at the price. The blade is slightly longer than 3" at 3 1/8". It takes an edge easily, and holds it pretty well.
Another one is the Gerber AR 3.00, around 35$. Alot of people hate Gerber, but I like mine.

If you want cheap and good folder but do not need one hand opening nor really liner lock: Opinel. They're dirt cheap and Carbon's can be sharpened hair sliptting sharpness and they cost roughly $ 10 or under depending size. You can buy 3 of them in price of Skyline so it wouldn't be a big problem for losing. its very good user knife. Beats many more expensive knives as user knife.

sorry I read it quickly and didn't notice you didn't like spydercos. i saw ~3", cheap, liner lock, and the persistence came to mind.

lol first thing that popped in my mind before I read it was the Tenacious. Just kiddin with ya about not readin it ;)

+1 on the Opinal. If you can get away with a 2 hand opener and a different style lock, they are a good knife at a truly disposable price.

As mentioned already, the Kershaw Skyline is $35 at WalMart. Nice quality, decent Sandvik steel, great fit & finish, G10, very light weight and US made. If you have a Walmart by you, then it will be easy to replace without having to wait for a new one to be shipped.

Also, if you want better steel, then the Buck Vantage Pro w/ Paul Bos heat treated S30V and G10 is a great knife @ $40-45.

The Kershaw Skyline is a great knife for the price, and so is the O So Sweet, but the Skyline uses better steele.

+1 on Brad's list - or go look at the glass case at Wally World, there are plenty of decent low end users in there, and you can pick them up and decide what fits your hand.

KaBar Dozier, around $20.00, and a good knife. Also, check out Rough Rider. I think they have a very inexpensive lockback, and I have been impressed with their quality.

Not sure the blade length would meet your requirements, though.

Opinel or SAK. Thats just my pick of low cost, nice, working, easy to get sharp, ..... replaceable knives. I know they are not liner locks but ..... Maybe I should have kept my opinel, I mean "opinion" too myself. Good luck.
