Hi everyone! I am really wanting to get a Case Backpocket but the price is quite expensive. Does anyone know of a knife that is similar in the sub 50$ range? Most of the knives in this size seem to be locking which is a problem where I am currently residing. Plus I just really dig the traditional look. If anyone has any suggestions that would be awesome!

Case slime line trapper in delrin is about $30. The BackPocket is a Bose design, licensed to Case.

Left you a visitor message with a couple of options.

You can also take a look at this BF member dealer who has a few in stock (including some discontinued models) for just a little above your target price range:

doyouremember,

Nooooo . . . I don't. . . . what did I do ? What did I say ? Oh no . . . again ?
:p
Well, you aren't going to like my suggestion but I have your best interest at heart.
Save up your bucks and buy the Case. It is worth it, you won't regret it in the end.
Don't plan on putting it in your back pocket though . . .
Realistically it needs a belt pouch.

You might like the A.G. Russell Cowboy or Rancher (the smaller model). Same idea, slim profile but big blades compared to their overall size.
It's not a Case BackPocket, though : the aesthetic is different. I have a CowBoy and three Case Backpockets (I'm a nut for Tony Bose's designs...). But I like the Cowboy a lot... and it's in the 50 $ range. The Cowboy is on top in the picture here under :

The Rough Rider Grandaddy Barlow is just a smidge bigger than the Case Backpocket, but could be a less expensive ($12) option for you. The one I have, in saw cut bone, is very well made (crisp half stop, solid lock-up, no wobble, centered blade) and carries unnoticed in my back pocket.

I decided to just wait and save up for a Backpocket although I might also get a slimiline trapper in the future, I like my traditional knives to be made of natural materials, it just feels better that way. Plus I like to support USA made when I can, especially considering I have never purchased a Case before, and I have heard a lot of good things about them. I am new to knife collecting so I have a hard time deciding which direction I want to go. I always thought knives were utility tools until I got a Buck 110 for hunting, and then I got hooked.
