So I need something a little classier for dressier occasions; weddings, fancy restaurants, etc. I have the Valloton but I would like something smaller and less intimidating to non-knife people. First off I'll tell you what I don't want: slip-joints, SAKs, stag or wood, Spyder hole. I would like 3" +/- blade, not picky on lock type as it will be a light duty knife. Top range is about $125 for this one.

Knives I'm considering:

-Lionsteel Opera (horn)
-Lionsteel Daghetta (carbon/g10)
-Mcusta Tactility

Really looking at the Lionsteels hardest of my choices so far. Lookking for input in anything I may have overlooked or on these knives.

Have you seen that "Eagle "HD" Heavy Duty, 4" AUS-*A Talon blade, plain edge "New"" from Al Mar? its in there new line up and dealers site says $200, but I havent seen it at the shops yet.

To be honest with you I fon't really care for Al Mar's folders all that much. Something about them just doesn't sit right with me.

Benchmade has some like the Shoki which is discontinued this year but you could probably still find some in stock, a CF/M390 Version and a winewood S30V version.

Many love it or hate it, but have you considered a frame-lock CRKT Ripple? Love mine for classy carry. I dig that IKBS...

The Shoki isn't bad but I like my original choices more. Not really digging the CRKT.

check out the benchmade 470. I got mine a couple weeks ago (for $125) and i'm really diggin it. 3 inch blade, s30v steel, aluminum handles, the clip rides low in your pocket so you can't really see the knife and it's the epitome of a modern gentlemans pocket knife. It just keeps growing on me. I'll post pics in a bit.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and throw out the often overlooked and underrated Kershaw Leek. While this knife is rather inexpensive it's got a very slim and elegant profile that would IMO be worthy of a gents knife. Also they come in several variations of finishes and blade steel ( I think they still offer it in S30V but not sure)

I'll give you three choices 1st the spydero sage1,kershaw leek g10 and the mini grip I use the sage the most deep carry but you don't want spydero hole.

I used to have a MCusta Tactility in Chinese Quince. Gorgeous knife, sharp and pointy etc. The only objection I had was when the knife was closed the point extended just a bit beyond the end of the handle. This caused an unpleasant surprise from time to time when being handled.

If you want the Tactility see if you can handle one before you've made a final decision.

How about a Crown II by Kershaw? $15, 3.25" blade, gentlemanly appearance, Kershaw lifetime warranty.

Oh, and did I mention only $15?!?!

Benchmade 943 is my pick if you can find a good deal on one...have always thought of it as one of the best looking modern folders that gives the impression of a sleek, tactical toothpick with class.
