Something that no one will notice if when I'm carrying. I'll be aware of the law, though.

Look -HERE-.

I've been looking at that one, actually, but I thought it looked too thick to be unnoticed underneath a shirt or something.

If the law is in your area is cool with it I have a really boring, disappointing recommendation.

CRKT Stiff Kiss With the Modified Drop point. it's incredibly thin, lightweight, well designed, and sharp as the proverbial razor (once ya' do a five minute touch up on the factory edge) OH yeah, and It's a pretty versatile design too. I also pulled the strings outta some Paracord and did a really, really nice looking cord wrap on mine.

The Sheath is pretty awright too, for one of them cheap plastic jobs. It's got great retention, and can be carried any one of umpteen different ways. I'm currently carrying mine clipped to my waist band. I'll probably start carrying it at work soon inverted on a belly band kinda set up.

I know it's not nearly as much fun as some knives out there, but it's a good flat out basic workhorse. Most of all it's EASY TO LIVE WITH (a very important factor in my mind) Oh, and BTW, I wouldn't cry too much over the AUS 6 steel either. It's not that different from the same stuff our grandfathers used to consider to be a knife steel that
could last for thier lifetimes AND ours. It aint the latest greatest wonder steel, but it aint bad either.

Also in the pure user category and on the lower end of the price bracket are the Timberline Mini Pits, CRKT Kasper fixed blades, and the Camillus Arclite.

If ya' are wantin' somethin' beefier an' more expensive, I'd consider a Nimravus Cub in M2. Hell bent for tough them things are, and well worth the hundred some odd bucks it takes to get 'em.

OF course in that size range is also the Camillus CQB's (smaller size) and the Talon. I personally am a HUGE fan of the steel used in these.

Give a few more details on yer enviroment, intended use, laws, preferences, etc. an' we may be able to shed a lil' more light on the issue for ya'.

Best of luck in yer selection!

Edited to add: If'n Doziers are yer flavor and ya' want somethin' thinner check out my own latest lusted after knife- The Arkansas Toothpick. (I usually aint that heavily influenced by knife rags, but Jerry Van Cooks article on that knife pushed me over on a blade I was already gettin' more an' more curious about)

Bud Nealy makes fixed blades with his own MCS - Multi-Carry System Kydex sheath - very flat very elegant. 2 main styles American Tanto point or utility point.

This is his presentation grade (custom) Aikuchi (tanto point) with red jigged bone handles

Factory versions -
Boker make the Specialists I & II to these designs with the MCS Kydex sheaths at lower costs:

I've aquired a few of the Spyderco fixed blades lately and am really quite impressed. The Temperance is great, though a little bulky in the handle to conceal really well. The one that really shines is the Moran. It's a thin little guy and the taper of the handle helps it hide very easily.

Another one that is good, but quite a bit smaller is the Fallkniven WM1. Yeah I know it was designed for women, but it works great.

I haven't had a Dozier yet either, but I'm sure it would suit you just fine.

TheMightyGoat,

You don't really say what you want the knife for. EDC general purpose or SD.

You will get a better focused response with an idea of the intended usage.

Gryphn M-10 hides well. As does Spyderco Ronin. Also, Kathleen Tomey Stinger and mini Stinger are excellent small fixed blades with great control built into the way they are designed.

One of my favorites and every day carries is RJ Martin Kozuka - this I could write a whole story on. Remarkable amount of carry options between the neck carry sheath and clip belt sheath - the clip belt sheath is open on both ends, so that you could have it, for instance, IWB in waitband and also hanging down from inside a sportcoat jacket pocket. And the draw is silent and smooth, due to the blade being held in by rare earth magnets.

I also love my Hartsfield Kozuka, as it's nice in it's slim carry leather sheath against the skin.

I got the same reccomendation on knifeforums.com, but I don't understand how one would conceal a 13" knife.

I've been carrying a Spyderco Lum Tanto FB03 since mid march... had my normark (O/ST) rig since early april... just couldn't stand the factory leather.

Eric's rig allows any carry position you can imagine, as well as being fully ambidexterous.

I bought a Crawford necker at the last NY knife show, and love it. It is not noticeable when worn under a t-shirt alone. Quality is great, and after a while I didn't even realize I was still carrying it. It comes with a kydex sheath, and break away chain. It is on the small side, so I don't think it would be well suited to SD, but I don't think any concealed neck knife could be. I carry a knife for utility purposes only, so I have found it to be an excellen value.

Bud Nealy/Boker Speciallist is tops on my list. Some Sweed Puko knives are hard to beet to bud some folks don't like the fact that they typically don't have finger guards. I have personally drove one of these babies 1/2 inch into ply wood without incident

and the sheaths are great at holding on to the knives.

Just a few more ideas.

Many folks seem to really like Newt Livesay's small knives. They seem to be mostly neck knives but he makes a lot of different stuff. His website is much improved from the old days if anyone has bad memories of long load times (sorry Newt!) Look at the neck knives and the Bow Huntin' buddy.

Another interesting smaller knife is the Pukulan from Keen Edge Knife Works. Multi-position kydex sheath and can be had with a matching trainer (which is sweet) online for $90. Live blade alone is $75.

That's my $.02. Fixed blade concealed is illegal in my juridiction so I haven't really tried with any of my fixed blades.

Carried in the provided "plastic" sheath, IWB, with the clip under my belt...It presents a fairly flat profile, while still giving me a useful-sized knife.

I think that Arkansas Toothpick is thinner than it looks in the pictures, but even if the default design is too thick you could always request a thinner one. Despite the low prices, every knife Bob Dozier makes is a true handmade custom. Talk with Linda about what you need and I'm sure you will end up with a knife that meets and exceeds your requirements.

Mine involved several signficant variations on one of his designs, but the Doziers were wonderful to work with and the result was far beyond my expectations.

It's not a 13" knife, 1SKS has got the wrong information. The overall length is 9.625", while the blade length is 4.875".

Sergiusz Mitin had a nice picture of one in hand in a recent thread comparing it to the Benchmade Nimravus.
