Please excuse my verbosity - after a few paragraphs of explanation and apology; you will hear break-through information about blade design, and engineering. I hope I am not off topic.
First I would like to apology if I offended Tripton or anyone else. All of us at xxxxxxxxxx are passionate (I may be obsessive) about innovation and new weapon designs. Speaking only for myself; I have been known to go way-overboard when it comes to talking about our weapon systems. I have the same passion talking to a 90 year old WWll veteran - that obviously has no ability or means to properly use our systems…or an engineer that hates weapons, and may not enjoy our conversation. Yet I press on; so you are not alone…my wife tells me to “knock it off” all the time. Believe me; she has more power than you do Tripton.
Please relax Tripton; you are going to have a heart attack. Not many people value innovation over the money – just us nuts. Perhaps we would be better served; if we saved our anger / antipathy for the enemies of this great Republic…not for a fellow patriot. I do respect the right for you to voice your opinion; no matter what accusations you make - even to a fellow American. In fact if it makes you feel better; I wish you all the best.
I admit, when we first began this project; it was for profit. At this point we have invested too much in our systems; it is unlikely that we will see any profit – any time soon. This is especially true since our clients are very specialized, and we continue spending our resources on R&D.
When I read the first post from Elmgorvegnome - that he could not find a 6”-9” dagger - that could not be totally concealed - I could not contain myself – again I apology. Chances are; he does not have the training to properly use our systems; thus my main objective was “let people know” about new weapon designs. Now that that is behind us; please indulge me one last time.
I am a self-taught “limited knowledge engineer”, and I am the designer of all our products. I have been given a brief gift by a power much higher than mine. You cannot understand how grateful I am!
When we first began developing swords that conform to the human torso; I hired a specialized company to temper our sword blades. (Their main office is in Germany) The President of the company loved our spirit; the US plant engineer/manager (with a master’s degree - ran the plants engineering)…he was like you Tripton…he hated me. The engineer with the master’s degree told me – “what we want to do is impossible” – “against the law of physics”. I told him that he was wrong! (Bet he hates me more than you do Tripton)
So my design company decided to cheat the laws of physics…yes cheat! The engineer said we could not make a blade as heavy as a full size katana - that it would be impossible to wrap around your waist – that the metal would be too thick - that it would permanently deform if wrapped around the waist area. Additionally the engineer said it would be too stiff / too rigid to even bend. He also thought I was crazy.
How did we cheat physics; we took a series of thin specially tempered sword blades and laminated them together. We employ a liquid grease between the blades to create the properties of Molecular Adhesion. (In simple terms surface tension) The blades do not physically touch one another – they float on each other “at the molecular level” - they are separated by a thin liquid layer of molecules. (There is a particular manifestation of intermolecular forces which causes solids or liquids to adhere to each other; usually used with reference to adhesion of two different materials, in contrast to cohesion)
So in simple terms the blades stick together based upon liquid surface tension; much like the tinted dark film applied to auto windows. When the sword bends; the individual laminated blades move independently of one another, and at different ratios - but will not separate – even when striking a target hundreds of times. I can totally conceal a heavyweight sword in a specialized steel linked containment system under my belt. I can deploy the sword faster than a concealed carry handgun, and crush concrete blocks without damaging the blade. We have many videos to prove that.
Finally, for those of you that still think I am crazy; you are 100% right…but I am “an extremely well-managed crazy”!
Very respectfully, Curtis W. Koehler
