Looking for a custom knife maker

Hello all,

I after lurking in the forums for the past few years I decided to join. Some of you may have seen my thread about a bad deal that I had with one knife maker here.


Here is the deal. I'm looking to have a custom fixed blade recurve Persian style knife made. So essentially looking for a good trusted knife maker who can help me get my dream knife :D
I'd like to have the knife made by September.


The steel is preferably Damascus however other interesting looking pattern steels are welcome. Handle from an exotic stabilized wood. This knife will mostly be a safe queen with odd times when I might take it with me hunting.

If you have used someone or are a knife maker please send me a note and we can discuss the details.
 
Alan Davis is your man! He will do it the way you want it. You can find him in the folders and fixed blade for sale by custom makers here in the forums, I have 6 of his knifes so I can tell you he will do a GREAT JOB! Good Luck! Kevin :D:thumbup:
 
I suspect the major limiting factor is going to be the style you want and your timeline. Many makers here are capable but wait times up to a year are not out of the norm.

I can also Highly Reccomend Alan Davis. Alan is very Good at making both folders and fb. I have 2 of his knives and want to get more.

I know that Alan made a Persian folder in damascus,I think, not too long ago.

Trying to get a custom fb made by Sept. maybe hard tho. Most good knifemakers have a lead time of at least a few months.

Send Alan an email. He's a great guy ! The first time I talked with him about my first custom by him I was on the phone with him for over 2 hours.

Price to me is not set, but has to be within reasonable

Blade about 9-10" plus handle would even look at animal bone or stabilized wood
No lanyard hole

The shape I do have in mind and can transfer on image, but the rest I can leave for the knife makers imagination and advice
 
i would like to see apicture of the style your talking about. i will make one, and if you dont like it i will just sell it
 
Send me an email with some pics/drawings of what you want. I'm pretty sure I could do it for less than $400.
 
Still looking for options for s knife maker. Seems that my custom pommel is not easy to work with according to Darrin.

I could however have the Boar's head made to fit the knife's handle.
 
Might be able to help you out. New to the knife making buisnes but have been working with metals for a long time. I also make jewelry so might be able to help with the boars head.Pukko 5.jpg
