Looking for a decent Sub $200 Overbuilt flipper.

The 300 series in no way compares to the 566, its about twice the knife as the 566. So keep that in mind, what area are you in so we can give advice on a B&M near you, and try it in the pocket before you buy it. Not just in the hand. Looking at used ones on the forum just look at weather its centered, scratched up, how far does the lock bar go over, normal stuff like that. Most of the ones sold on the exchange have been babied, your pretty much getting a new knife in most cases, check the seller's rep and feedback and glide right on by someone asking for you to pay gift or add paypal fee Ie net to me. If they can't figure out how to add that in their total price, well you get the picture.

North East Side of Dallas Metroplex. I buy a lot of used bike parts on another forum, so I'm pretty familiar with Paypal. Thanks for the advice!

Well there is a blade store on 820 way over in west ft worth, House of Blades thats the only large one I'm aware of, they do carry Zt knives and thats where I fondled a 300 the first time. Freaking huge in the pocket by the way. Great knife just be prepared for it to take your entire pocket.

Yeah Cricketdave has it right I have a zt 300 and it's an absolute beast, like 8 grams, wide and heavy, but it feels like a fixed blade. So to speak.

Ok BF, I think I've come to the conclusion that I want to go full spatula with a zt 0300. I KEEP going back to look at it and compare it to the 0566, which also seems to be a hefty knife. I like the full frame lock better than the 0350, and the handle/scale shape more than the 0566. Are there any B&M Retailers known for carrying ZT knives that I might visit and handle one of these before purchasing? Any idea what they typically go for used? Anything I should pay particular attention to when purchasing used?

Here's a pic that shows some of the ZT models. You can see the 0350 and 0566 are somewhat similar in size, but the 0300 is a different beast altogether.

Here's another showing the thickness of various ZT models:

Awesome, Thanks for the comparison shots! I may have found a pre-owned zt0300bw, keep your fingers crossed!

I would go with the ZT 0301.. I think it was monkeyedge.com that had them for $165.. It is a beast of a knife!!

Thanks for checking man, $165 is a great deal. I just scored a pre-owned 0300 in DLC Black for just under that. Should be at my door in a few days! I'm EDCited.

I will also recommend the ZT's. I have the 0561, and 0566 and really like them. Both bought used here on the sales forum, and both well under your price range. I had an 0301, and liked it a lot, but the recurve bothered me so I sold it.

Don't overlook the ZT0770. Lots of those around under your price limit, especially on the FS forums.

And if you want a nice, big, tough flipper, +1 on the ZT0200.

And if you can stretch your budget, get the ZT0301. Or Guardian Tactical Helix.

+1

If you can stretch your budget a little the ZT0300 or ZT0301 brings new meaning to the word overbuilt and the 3D G-10 and titanium makes for a fantastic grip.

i recommend the zt 0300 or the 0200. i have the 0300 and its an absoulote beast. its never failed me and ive beat on her pretty hard. my buddy has the 0200 and for 160 bucks its pretty dang good. just as beefy as my 300 for less. both are very good in my hand too

As already recommended many times....ZT 0566. It's made really well and the Elmax steel is hard to beat IMHO.

If I was to buy a ZT right now, it would be the 0350 in M390 and carbon scales. I miss my 0350.

Once I started really looking at ZT Knives, I fell for the 0300.. It became my "Grail" knife.. and instead of beating around the bush and waiting on it, I found one pre-owned. I'm excited, It's supposed to be here tomorrow!

As I was reading your initial post I definitely had my 0350 in mind, and I see you've settled on the big brother 0300, good choice!
