Have the gerber applegate folder found it to be a disappointing knife that failed the spine whack, does not have a clip for carry. I also know about the CS triple actions folder.
Anyone know of other double edge folders. Would love to know of any others.

well not a folder in what your probably looking for, but the BM46 (benchmade model 46) balisong has a spearpoint blade...from fasctory ti is onyl hsarpened on one side, but the other can easily be sharpened...this beign a balisong is good because you have a safe way to store it closed...but on the other hand you need some practice to manipulate it without nicking yourself...not hard to do, just takes some thoguht and a bit of practice...

now...the hard part....finding one, lol, they have been out of procustion for a while now, you cna find them online at some vendors, but they will fetch about $150 - $170 or so...

I'm assuming you're sharpening the swidge. I'm surprised about the Gerber F/A, but maybe it's an older model. I had a Gerber F/A Covert with LAWKS system. While it failed the spine whack test, you can flick the LAWKS on.

Recently, I aquired a CRKT Voodoo. The blade's similar to the F/A. It's an A/O in 154 CM, & it passed the spine whack test. Unfortunately, I have too many knives that I'm selling/trading it. But it's surprisingly good.

I cannot think of a folder which would not leave the "second" sharpened edge exposed.

There are double edged OTF knives...

The Kabar Dozier thorn, and the AG Russel Folding Sting can both be sharpened on the top edge.

If you want a double ground but single edged folder, there are some excellent Mel Pardue Benchmades, the out of production 350, the auto 3550, and the axis 530.

Boker AFD/EFD were both designed with extra wide handles to fully enclose the blade so that if the owner decided to have the false edge sharpened it would not be exposed. Very steep price though! :thumbdn:

panama,
FYI the current newly manufactured "...Covert and Combat have the patented roto-lock system...".
and
"....Whether you choose the special operations black or the advanced camouflage green handles, they all come with the added convenience of a hearty pocket clip—keeping the knife within easy reach...".

So, I would still go with the Gerber A-F folders.
The other as someone else had posted, being the Boker AFD, which like all other production folding daggers - come only sharpened on the main knife edge and unfortunately, not the false.

That being the case, try looking instead for a small fixed bladed bootknife!
Like the CRKT's AG Sting, Gerber's Backup or Fallkniven's G1 Garm Fighter.
And there are probably lots more out there.

the only one i have seen that would work is a gerber applegate or a BM boguzewski spike, i have seen double edge A-F's but never a spike like that, imho it would work though IIRC as the blade is below the handle like the A-F.

ya close it carefully lol, carry it as ya would anything else.

i dont know what they are good for though but to get ya in trouble lol,

of course lotsa OTF autos are DE,

i cant think of any folders that dont have the spine of the blade exposed.

is the applegate blade totally enclosed?

The false edge section of the blade on the Spyderco Police model is safey enclosed within the handle, too.

but only the inch or so toward the tip, correct?

i guess i just dont care for double edged blades, i cut myself plenty already with single edged knives. :(

Correct, sir. And two of mine have their swedges sharpened by the master, Tom Krein.

One has been modified to be waved, with a tip-up carry, so it's a potential SD folder. With a sharpened swedge (legality aside), you've got the option of using the swedge for mundane tasks if necessary, leaving the primary edge for "close encounters."
